Swing Into Spring
I remember Ginger of Paris from her tap tapes and her swing DVD is every bit as good. The instructions are clear as a bell; the music is dazzling; and even if you've got two left feet (which I do), I guarantee you'll get in the swing of things by the time you're finished. It gives new meaning to that old song, "Swing on a Star."

The absolute best swing instruction.
I took an intermediate ballroom dancing class and learned some swing steps. I then bought this DVD and added a lot of moves to our swing dance. The instructions are very clear and simple and easy to learn. This DVD is excellent, starting with the very basic moves on through advanced level. I didn't much care for the CD that came with it but the DVD instruction is well worth the price.

This two tape set, is jam packed with 32 moves, including everything from basic Turns to Swivels, Kicks and syncopated steps. You learn steps from the Single and Triple Swing.The instructors demonstrate each step to music followed by the "guy's gig" and "gal's gig" in which clear shots of footwork and body movement show the leader's and follower's patterns. Follow up demos of each move are done to both show and fast music and a review sequence is shown after every five steps. High production value and higly recommended! Additionally with the DVD comes the Zoot Swing CD music of the band featured in the DVD for fun and practice!

The Salsa Series, this being Part 1 in a 5-part series on learnign this dance, the instructions are clear and direct and even two left feet will find the Salsa moves. Following the instructions that are so carefully laid out will make a dancer out of anyone.
The Salsa lessons are prefaced with a rich description of the style; positions; moves and history of this Latin dance. Viewers will be able to apply these steps to other forms of Latin dances as the Salsa is a good point of reference.

Simply one of the best dance instruction DVDs I have. John Hill explains things clearly, from different angles, and with a good deal of easy-going all-American charisma befitting Swing.
This DVD has added a lot of nice flourishes to my current repertoire of Swing moves, and I even recently used many of John Hill's techniques that I learned from this DVD at a national ballroom DanceSport competition. These included the Alternating Rock Turns (aka Stop Turns) and Flare kicks. (I did quite well with my dance partner in the competition, most of the time earning first place finishes on our heats.)

This DVD has helped my wife and I become better dancers. It features the teacher and his partner but then shows very average people of all ages dancing throughout the DVD. Being male, I was a little intimidated by this at first but quickly lost that feeling because of the pace and teaching techniques the instructors use. Good buy! Only drawback is that if you rewind often to watch and practice on your own, you quickly get tired of the music being played. This DVD does everything correctly. It starts with good simple exercises, explains them completely with excellent close-up camera work all the time. No dead time with just talking. It's all dancing - a full hours worth - with clear running explanation of what you are watching. Highly recommend - The Tango Fundamentals.
