    Review(s): DVD Psychic Killer
    Good 70's chiller

Psychic Killer is my favourite 70's B movie. The idea, and story of a killer who does not have to be near is victims, is handled exceptionally well. Jim Hutton is excellent as usual and the supporting cast relish in their roles. One either to buy or to borrow, but you must see it.

    killer movie

If you love B movies you'll love this. Nothing like a good thriller like this.

A rarely screened cult favorite from Paul Verhoeven, this story of medieval war and revenge should please action fans and admirers of the director and his semi-regular leading man, Rutger Hauer, but its graphic scenes of sexual violence earmark it for mature viewers only. Hauer stars as a 16th-century mercenary hired by a Western European ruler (Fernando Hilbeck) to assault a neighboring kingdom; when the king reneges on his promises to Hauer and his men, they kidnap his son's fiancee (Jennifer Jason Leigh) and hole up in a nearby castle. Hauer and Leigh are standouts in a strong cast that includes Tom Burlinson, Bruno Kirby, the late Brion James, and Susan Tyrrell; Verhoeven's realistic approach to the down-and-dirty facts of medieval life and the bloody aftermath of warfare offers a... He Walked by Night DVD

This gritty and often chilling documentary-style noir (based on a true story) about the hunt for a cop killer in Los Angeles is a must-have for fans of vintage crime films. Richard Basehart stars as a cold-blooded thief whose murder of a police officer sets off a citywide manhunt; the law, led by granite-jawed Scott Brady, tracks him relentlessly until the pair square off in the shadow-steeped drainage canals beneath the city (the same locale for the finale of Them!). Though Alfred Werker is credited as director, noir and Western vet Anthony Mann actually helmed the majority of the film; his muscular direction lends palpable suspense to the picture, aided in no small part by longtime collaborators John C. Higgins (who co-wrote the script) and cinematographer John Alton, whose... More Info about this DVD

    Dragonslayer DVD

Despite its box-office failure in 1981, Dragonslayer was gradually recognized as one of the finest fantasies to emerge from the post-Star Wars boom in special effects. It's still one of the best adventures of its kind, featuring one of the most fearsome fire-breathing serpents in movie history. Ominously named Vermithrax Pejorative, this ill-tempered monster terrorizes the peasantry of sixth-century England, feeding on maidens sacrificed by a duplicitous king until a sorcerer's apprentice named Galen (Peter MacNicol, long before Ally McBeal) is recruited as a reluctant hero. Aided by a tenacious beauty (Caitlin Clarke) and his resurrected mentor (Ralph Richardson), Galen confronts the soaring beast in a breathtaking climax. Employing a then-innovative technique called... Dead Eyes of London Ghost DVD

I bought this because I wanted a better print of "The Ghost" on DVD. It's a rare Italian horror film with Barbara Steele that's a follow up to the classic "Terror of Dr.Hitchcock". Extremely moody and eerie and saturated with Gothic atmosphere, it features Steele at her best as both vixen and victim. While Retromedia's print does look better, it is by far not the best. There are bad scratches on the print throughout. The second feature on this disc is a soft and dupey print of "Dead Eyes of London". This is a low-budget German remake of Lugosi's 1939 thriller "The Human Monster". Both films are based on a story by Edgar Wallace. "Dead Eyes" is a murder mystery or "krimi" that features a Tor Johnson type blind brute following orders and kidnapping wealthy older men. It is neither scary nor... More Info about this DVD
