5 Stars for Season Two - But Season One Deserved 6!

Season Two is a glorious revelation from the Gods of Comedy and features such wiley moments (often musical) such as Noblett singing 80s power rock ballads and yellow-clad cult members of the Safe Trap House joyously chanting, "I'm gonna sit at the Welcome Table, Hallelujah!", but unfortunately Season Two is missing a bit of that life-altering je ne sais quoi of the first. Guy, Jerri's actively catatonic father, is dead by episode three to be replaced by a weakened rendition of the old favorite, Stu, the Meat Guy. The sexual tension between Noblett and Jellineck has fizzled.

Despite its faults, Season Two is gem of hilarity. I give it five stars, but I still think that Season One deserved six!

    Same story, second verse

You can read my review of the first season if you want a description of the content in this series, but this is here just to say that of the three seasons, this is the best and most consistenty funny, in my opinion. It also makes greater use of Tammy Littlenut. Oh Yes!

Completely under-rated show. BRING IT BACK!

    "I've got something to say!"
I loved this show when it first aired on Comedy Central back in 1999. I'm surprised to see it on DVD but love the fact that it is. Either you think this is a funny show or you don't, there really isn't any inbetween. It's dark, edgy and racey and some people don't like that kind of humour. If you do, then get this or at least check it out. The premise of a bad after school special fits it well and I think that the movie (coming out in the summer of 2005) will cause a resurgence in the show.
    "GOOD TIMES!"

Reno 911 - The Complete First Season DVD

From the creators of the flamboyantly fabulous Viva Variety (and when will that be released on DVD?) comes Reno 911, Comedy Central's most arresting comedy series. Ride along with the cluelessly cracked squad of the Wahoe County Sheriff's Department, who cross the proverbial thin blue line with impunity. "That's how we do it in Reno," exults Lt. Dangle (Thomas Lemmon), after absent-mindedly rear-ending a car whose trunk pops open to reveal a cache of marijuana. Reno 911 has Cops's gritty documentary feel, and Police Squad's straight face in subverting cop show conventions. The hapless officers get no respect, not from the citizens they encounter, from their colleagues in the FBI, or even from themselves. Kerri Kenney-Silver's unfortunate Det.... Mr. Show - The Complete Fourth Season DVD

Season 4 of HBO's Mr. Show is particularly strong, with a number of original ideas and exceptionally funny sketches scattered over all 10 episodes. Stars Bob Odenkirk and David Cross are in good form from the season premiere's opening bit about medical marijuana--specifically, Cross's prescription to help him with the anxiety of working with Odenkirk. The duo also work a comic rivalry theme in a dueling bloopers sketch that includes "embarrassing" footage of Odenkirk as a male prostitute and Cross as a wannabe rock star.

But the best material is positively surreal, such as a Jerry Springer-like talk show taking place on a life raft, and a variation on The Paper Chase in which a curmudgeonly law professor (Michael McKean), suddenly called away from class after a... More Info about this DVD
