    Snore-fest...

So boring! Totally predictable--your average "feel good" sports movie. A new teacher arrives in a small town and decides to teach the misfit kids that inhabit it soccer. They're horrible when they first try. She then announces to them that their first game is the next day (I believe... i know the game is soon). They're all worried. They lose to the "Knights" (see? predictable NAME too). Somehow they end up in the finals, against the Knights again. They defeat them and receive a huge trophy that looks more like they won a pro sports championship instead of a kid's soccer league competition.
I never really understood the name of the team... "The Big Green?" Isn't the field in the middle of their town The Big Green? And what does that have to do with the team name whatsoever? Okay, maybe I'm missing something, but...

I watched the game while I was sick. Hoping it'd make me feel better. My parents liked it and insisted I didn't enjoy it because I felt crummy, but it we wasn't just me--it was the movie too. Don't invest in it--find something your kids would REALLY like.

    Unbelievebly predictable (and bad)

This is the most boring, vapid, cliched movie in the world. Here's the plot (if you haven't guessed): Soccer team of lovable misfits sucks at the beginning of the movie, losing to their stuck-up but great-at-soccer rivals (even the name is predictable--the "Knights"), but then, through teamwork and dedication etc. slowly get better (esp. the fat kid). They come from behind at the end of the season to beat the Knights with seconds left (I believe the little kid, who is always dirty, scores the last goal). The Knights are humiliated, the Big Green recieves a cup that makes it look like they won the World Series, they learn eminently predictible life lessons, etc. It's the standard feel-good sports-movie plot, and is not helped by maudlin, cliche-filled acting (not to mention music). Don't believe the five star reviewers, because apparantly they enjoy mindless pap. DO NOT BUY THIS MOVIE!!!!!

Just an all around fun movie to watch

I own 'The Big Green' on VHS and it's a great movie. It's about this really small town with nothing to do (they don't even have a pizza hut!) called Emma, Texas where the 'big kids' are used to taking the 'laid-back' approach on school. All of them at the begining have bad attitudes toward their new teacher Ms. Mountgumry (i know thats spelled wrong) a young teacher from England that tries to inspire and modivate the kids but at the begining doesn't have very much luck.

While trying to teach Geography Ms. M decides to try to get the kids attention by breaking the globe on her desk and begin to do a soccer 'trick' the kids are very impressed and this begins the story line for the rest of the movie. She decides to form a soccer team with Sheiff Tom helping her couch (but at first the only reason he's there is because he's smitten with Ms. M) although the kids hate the idea.

Ridicously they have their first game against an all-wining but snotty team 'the knights' with an a hole for a couch (couch Jay) who takes an interest in Ms. M. and grew up with Sheiff Tom and constantly puts him down.

Of course, they get slaughtered and humiliated. After this the kids are ready to forget the whole thing.

But Sheiff Tom and Ms. M pushes them to keep trying, they get their team name 'The Big Green' and keep trying even though they still suck.

Their luck changes when the new kid in town and in class Duan moves with his mother and although he's very quiet and they tease him in class at first they come to find out he's an extrodinary talent in Soccer. After begging his mother to let him on the team, he's on the team and they start getting better more encouraged and start winning games.

Everythings good until a family situation threatens to drive Duan out of town with his mom right before the final game against the team that slaughtered them before, The Knights.

(Ms. M and Knights Couch Jay makes a bet that if the knights win Ms. M will kiss him, but if The Big Green wins he has to kiss their mascot ernie *a painted green goat*)

it's a funny and sometimes touching ride that I recommend watch when your relaxing at home and need something to watch. It's for all ages something you can watch with your family or even by yourself.

    Little Giants DVD

This is the kind of movie that you can pop in on a lazy, rainy day when you need to be lifted up a little. It's a wonderful movie with a lot of great jokes and physcial humour. Kind of like Mighty Ducks, but in my opinion, a lot better with greatly funnier jokes. The only thing keeping me from giving this a full five stars, and a lot of you will think it's a stupid reason....as do I, but on the original VHS version, there was a Michigan J. Frog cartoon short before the movie. This is absent on the dvd version. That said, the dvd is a lot better for many other reasons. There are really cool bios about the people who helped invent football, a theatrical trailer for the movie, a really awesome special introduction by Shawna Waldron, who played Becky The Icebox in the movie (man, she got... Heavyweights DVD

12 year old Gerry Garner joins a group of "heavy" kids that are sent to their favorite fat camp for the summer, "Camp Hope" (a place where they're supposed to lose weight, but instead have a fun time). The kids find out that the camp has been sold to a crazy fitness instructor named Tony Perkins (Ben Stiller), so now, the camp has turned into a living hell for the kids. No more candy, or fun things like Go Karts and "The Blob". Tony wants the kids to lose weight, so he'll be able to make a profit from his fitness TV commercials (he has a camera man follow him around the camp). However, the kids rebel against Tony, because they want to have fun, not exercise, therefore, Tony starts to go crazy (in a hilarious way), so he decides to counter their actions, for example: one day, he takes... Angels in the Outfield DVD

This effects-heavy, 1994 remake of the 1951 film starring Janet Leigh and Keenan Wynn is all computer-generated pizzazz, with none of the charm or imagination of the original. Aimed squarely at children this time, the story focuses on a boy who gets some divine intervention on behalf of his favorite ball club. Christopher Lloyd plays the head angel, and Danny Glover is good as the team's manager, but the real star of the film--for better or worse--is the software that makes a glowing, celestial presence on the field seem real. --Tom Keogh More Info about this DVD

    The Sandlot DVD

When egghead Scotty Smalls moves to town just before the summer vacation of 1962, his first priority is to make friends. He heads to the nearby sandlot only to humiliate himself before the local kids, but star player Benny "The Jet" Rodriguez befriends the awkward boy, teaches him the basics of baseball, and welcomes him to the team. It's a summer filled with camaraderie and fun until Smalls hits his first home run. Problem is, Smalls's home run sends his stepfather's "Babe Ruth" autographed baseball into a neighboring yard that's patrolled by a snarling, slobbering monster called "The Beast." Creativity reigns and hilarity ensues when the boys risk everything to retrieve the ball. A final heroic encounter with "The Beast" and his owner yields some very surprising results....
