DVD Winnie the Pooh - Springtime with Roo
Friendship and compassion provide a memorable Easter celebration in Springtime with Roo. Roo's excitement on Easter morning is boundless, but when he, Winnie the Pooh, Piglet, Tigger, and Eeyore arrive at Rabbit's door for the big Easter egg hunt, Rabbit seems to have forgotten Easter and proclaims it "Spring Cleaning Day" instead. A dispirited Pooh and his gang quickly rally and decide to surprise Rabbit by putting up his Easter decorations. Rabbit is not at all happy with their efforts and furiously declares that Easter is canceled. It turns out that everyone involved has been selfish in some degree by failing to consider the feelings and desires of one another. Can a little mutual understanding and caring salvage Easter for Roo, Rabbit, and the rest of the gang? (Ages 2 to 7) --Tami Horiuchi
Review(s): DVD Winnie the Pooh - Springtime with Roo
Should be called Rabbit's worst nightmare
We rented this movie from Blockbuster. A part when rabbit's friends are missing was his worst nightmare
Should be Called Rabbit Ruins Easter
My daughter is 2 1/2 and we have been watching A very Merry Pooh Year since Christmas. We gave her this one for Easter and she completely forgot about the other one. It does involve Roo but mainly deals with Rabbit. Rabbit cancels Easter and declares it Spring Cleaning Day. It seems that the Easter before his preparations got ruined when everyone wouldn't follow his schedule. The others had fun without him and he was hurt. How could they enjoy Easter without him....the Easter ....Rabbit?? huh?. Roo is set on having an Easter egg hunt so Tigger and Roo try to convince Rabbit to change his mind. Only when the narrator steps in and shows him the future without his friends does he realize the err of his ways. So Scrooge....um, excuse me.....Rabbit hooks up the best easter egg hunt, Roo teaches him the importance of holidays and what good friends are made of and Rabbit gets crowned the Eater Bunny again. It's very colorful and sweet. It doesn't teach the real meaning of Easter but it's Winnie the Pooh. It's for young children. Reviewers should also consider that not everyone celebrates Easter. This is 60 minutes of learning that's sweet and engaging. My daughter hasn't seen a pooh flick that she didn't adore.
It entertains...
My two year old daughter rarely watchs TV (thanks to my wife). She is not interested that much on regular TV.
But this movie is a big hit with her. She watches it at least 3 times a week and enjoys it a lot.
We change the audio alternatively (English, French & Spanish) and our daughter does not seem to mind.
You might know it borrows heavily from Dickens...but hey, is a movie to entertain kids and it is a nice story.

The paucity of quality family movies available is underscored by the fact that everything about The Tigger Movie screams direct-to-video, yet it has put up some impressive box-office numbers. Its very premise belies Tigger's memorable song, "the most wonderful thing about tiggers is, I'm the only one," as our bouncy, flouncy hero decides, apropos of nothing, that he has family out there, somewhere, and he's determined to find them. Well, a 6-year-old can figure out that in the end, Tigger'll realize his pals in the Hundred Acre Woods are, in fact, his family, and that a locket introduced early on will wind up in little Roo's hands. The animation may be acceptable on the small screen, but looks pretty cheesy by contemporary feature standards, although an avalanche near the... Disney once again plunders the delightful Winnie-the-Pooh books for an animated movie, this one centered around the wee and insecure Piglet. Feeling unappreciated by his friends, Piglet wanders off into the Hundred Acre Wood; in his absence, Pooh, Eeyore, Tigger, and Rabbit reminisce about various adventures (including when Kanga and her baby Roo first arrived in their midst, and building a house for Eeyore) and begin to recognize Piglet's crucial contribution to their lives. Unfortunately for moviegoers, the gentle but sly whimsy of A.A. Milne's books has been turned into pure saccharine, which isn't helped by mediocre animation and appallingly bland songs (by Carly Simon, of all people). Even the most Pooh-worshipping kids are likely to find Piglet's Big Movie to be pretty... Pooh Bear and his pals in the Hundred Acre Wood celebrate Christmas and New Year's Eve in a pair of adventures folded into this 65-minute made-for-video feature. In the first, the silly old bear plays Saint Nick to his buddies ("I always thought he'd be taller") after failing to get an errant wish list off to Santa, while identity crisis strikes the gang in the second half. Piglet inherits Tigger's hop and jumps like a pogo stick, and Eeyore (dressed in Pooh's shirt) becomes a happy-go-lucky honey lover. Welcome to The Twilight Zone according to Winnie the Pooh. There's not much A.A. Milne in this TV-style holiday special, but it's a bouncy little production that should entertain the wee ones with its warm fuzzies, good company, slapstick energy, and life lessons. --Sean... Disney's 1977 The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh may be the last word on (animated) Pooh because it so faithfully honors the first word on Pooh, penned in the 1920s by British storyteller A.A. Milne. Gently paced, subtly humorous, and blessedly understated, this adaptation reflects Walt Disney's original vision to develop the beloved British bear for a wider audience. The film is essentially a collection of the original Pooh shorts, "The Honey Tree," "The Blustery Day," and "Winnie the Pooh and Tigger Too." These storybooks are presented in seamless "chapters," narrated by the timeless Sebastian Cabot. The familiar musical score and original voices of Sterling Holloway as Pooh, and Paul Winchell as Tigger, cap this enchanting keepsake. Pooh's Heffalump Movie introduces a lovable new character to the Hundred Acre Wood. When mysterious noises spook Pooh, Piglet, and the others, Rabbit explains that everyone will have to band together to track down the dreaded Heffalump. Well, everyone, that is, except Roo, who's too small for the task. Not surprisingly, it's Roo who makes first contact, and he quickly finds out that first impressions aren't always true. You can see the Big Messages coming from a mile off (Xenophobia is bad! Don't underestimate little kids!), and one moment of mischief curiously passes without even requiring an apology. But kids will be charmed by the Heffalump and may even connect with the empowerment/maturity themes. Among the voice cast, Jim Cummings does knockout impressions of Sterling Holloway...
