DVD Queer as Folk - The Complete Third Season (Showtime)
Drama ruled in a big way on the third season of Queer as Folk, as the gay men and women of Pittsburgh rode a roller coaster of emotional and personal upheavals that would make a regular soap-opera cast blanch. Budding comic book artist Justin (Randy Harrison) finally left longtime lover Brian for a chance at ecstasy--and not a bit of agony-with a charming violin player. Emmett (Peter Paige) finally came face-to-face with his affection for friend Ted (Scott Lowell), only to have Ted's growing drug habit get in the way of their happiness. Lesbians Melanie (Michelle Clunie) and Lindsay (Thea Gill) decided to have another baby, whose father would be... Michael (Hal Sparks), whose nesting with hunky Ben (Robert Gant) is rudely interrupted by runaway Hunter (Harris Allan). And as for Brian (Gale Harold), the man everybody wants but can't ever have? Just when it seems he's gone to work for the enemy--a homophobic mayoral candidate-it turns out he might be the savior the Pittsburgh gay community never knew it needed.
Snaps to the makers of QAF for trying to bring their characters into the grown-up world Michael, Emmett, and Ted started their own businesses; Justin finally cut loose from Brian-but too many melodramatic plot twists and turns impeded a lot of the character development this show worked hard at during its first two seasons. Still, most of the cast was topnotch, including Harrison, whose Justin finally came into his own, and the always dependable Harold, who made Brian a fascinating creature through all his steamy travails and over-the-top encounters. --Mark Englehart
Review(s): DVD Queer as Folk - The Complete Third Season (Showtime)
A different tone for QAF.
Season 3 is darker and more downbeat in tone than seasons 1 or 2, as it starts on a dramatic and sour note with Justin having left Brian, and although the two get back together, Brian does not earn himself much adulation for his support of a right wing candidate and his essential betrayal of the gay community, but he redeems himself in the end. This season has two rather distinct and defined story arcs with slightly fewer subplots than previous seasons. The first story arc deals with the love triangle of Justin, Ethan, and Brian, and the second deals with the election. The most memorable and major subplot is the itnroduction of Hunter, the teenage hooker who Ben and Micheal take in.
QUEER AS FOLK - Proves That 3s A Charm!!!
The Second season ended with a few cliffhangers. Will Justin leave Brian? Will Emmet and Ted get together? Both these cliffhangers are answered in this wonderful 14 episode season. If you haven't heard about the show yet it is about a group of gay and lesbian friends living in Pittsburgh USA. There are a lot of graphic scenes, but do not be fooled, this show is for EVERYONE as it deals with real life problems. This season deals with a lot of issues that concerns people in the gay community. Politics - the evil politician taking over Liberty Avenue. Crystal drug addiction that takes the best of dear old Teddy, and much much more. Not only are the episodes great, but we are given (though not the best) at least decent extras.

Queer as Folk: Season Three
The third season of Queer as Folk offers a delectable buffet of whit, charm, seduction, manipulation, lies and deceit. A deeper look into the psyche of characters revealing their darkest sides proves shocking and elevates the show to another level emotionally. Michael and Ben do a little community outreach while Justin and Brian contribute do their community through political avenues. Ted and Emmett deal with a new and fairly large elephant in the room that everyone else is able to see but them. Debbie learns and excercises her newly found oral skills and Uncle Vick finds a trick. Relationships morph, friendships are tested, jobs are lost and true feelings finally begin to surface. A great season and a wonderful way to build up salivation for the fourth.

They're still out and proud, and in their second season the boys (and girls) of Queer as Folk continued to break ground as the most gay-friendly show on television (sorry, Will and Grace). Some plot lines were a little over the top, others truly heartfelt, but they were never less than entertaining, even during their All My Children moments. Season two opened in the aftermath of the gay-bashing of Justin (Randy Harrison), the young artist who wondered if he'd ever be able to paint or draw again, and went on to face a variety of issues and plotlines as diverse as its characters. Some were timely (Michael negotiating a relationship with new HIV-positive boyfriend Ben), some romantic (lesbians Lindsay and Melanie tying the knot), some new to the show (Emmett embarks on a... I have been reading on the internet and heard what season 5 is about. I dont get showtime and have only started watching QAF a couple weeks ago. I have all FOUR seasons though. And with what happens in season 5...i dont know if i want it when it comes out. The stories are depressing. Brian gets SICK! that sucks. I heard one rumor it was AIDS but i also heard it was just HIV. And Brian and Justin dont end up together even though they should. and i also heard that they kill off Hunter. I know it is only a show but still....I know this has nothing to do with season four but i had to vent somewhere. Thanks for listnening and now you can say i wasnt helpful. They're here, they're queer, and they make Sex and the City look like a demure tea party. Showtime's quintessentially American Queer As Folk--based on the British miniseries--pours on copious amounts of hot and steamy sex. This slick (and slickly entertaining) series shares the same basic concept as its British counterpart--centering on a group of gay friends living in a primarily industrial city--but after that, all bets are off. Whereas the British version focused on the gritty, realistic drama of its characters, the American QAF is a glossy, fun soap opera that occasionally tackles big issues but never lets you forget that life at times can be a party, and you shouldn't be one of those poor suckers starving to death. A good part of the show's charm lies in its... More Info about this DVD Actor(s): Queer As Folk - Hal Sparks DVD Release Date: Released the 08 January 2002 Usually ships in 24 hours

Despite a slow weird beginning I enjoyed this movie more than words can say. It was funny weird, thought pervoking and it left me feeling really good despite some real life situations that were not always happy. I could identify with the mormon dude since I know well his pain having come from a strict hardcore Bible Thumping BAPTIST family myself. Trust me "Baptist's" are no more accepting or tolerant of gays or gay friendly folk than the religious neanderthals seen in this movie.
Despite the religious homophobic downers this was my kind of movie it had a happy ending I could honestly beleive. This movie left me happy and filled with hope. The unrated version has the steamier sex scene but what you see is pretty tame by todays standards. I would not recommend this... A Love story about "What could have should have might have been" IF ONLY... is the basic premise of The Trip. The Trip follows two gay men through young adulthood into early middle age. One a fully realized gay young man living in truth to himself with honor without shame. This first young man was doing what he could as a gay activist from the 1970's onward to champion causes of gay rights, HIV awareness and diversity. The other gay man was a conflicted deeply closeted homosexual chap from one of those hellish super religious conservative homes where father rules with an iron fist and every aspect of waking life is lived daddy's straight arrow conservative way or no way.
On his own and away from his militaristic thought police father at home the young seemingly... More Info about this DVD Director(s): Miles Swain DVD Release Date: Released the 09 December 2003 Usually ships in 24 hours
