    Moments of genius

This is a good movie, but the final 15 minutes are almost pure genius. the story comes to an emotional head, with some great dialogue, and superb acting, but Tarantino nearly steals the show with his cameo. Ever wondered why Top Gun is the greatest script in the history of Hollywood? If so watch this film!

    indie film strikes gold!

I brought this film before I saw it. I was nervous because I saw all the two and three star reviews, but now I'm wondering if they were talking about the same film!

This film is GREAT!! Fine acting, great script, great everything! I don't understand why this movie isn't more popular than it is!

I guess Hollywood has brainwashed people into believing romantic comedies have to be pure fluff (i.e Julia Roberts).

But for those of us who HATE the way Hollywood panders to the general public (especially where romantic comedies are concerned), check out this movie!!

Even if you're not an indie fan, if you hate saccrine sweet romantic comedies, you'll love this one!!

Its a romantic comedy with bite!

Dated But Hasn't Lost Its Touch

This is no reflection on the quality of the film, but Sleep With Me loses its edge after ten years. It's full of witty, 90's style banter. This was a great film when romantic comedies were in. The actors were hilarious and I enjoyed Craig Sheffer for the first time ever. I don't watch a lot of his films but this one is entertaining. I saw it in 1994 and was hooked on it then. Since then my tastes have changed and I've gotten attached to other films. This is the perfect date movie providing a realistic, comedic look at the differences between women and men and the problems that can surface within a circle of friends.

In the Cut (Unrated and Uncut Director's Edition) DVD

Based on Susanna Moore's popular novel, In the Cut centers on Frannie (Meg Ryan), an emotionally stifled English teacher who gets steamy with sultry Malloy (Mark Ruffalo, You Can Count On Me), a cop who's investigating a series of brutal murders--but Frannie soon suspects that Malloy may be the killer. As a psychological thriller, In the Cut is heavier on psychology than thrills; the story is a skeleton that director Jane Campion (The Piano, An Angel at My Table) cloaks in one of the most nightmarish visions of urban life since Taxi Driver or Seven, accompanied by lots of explicit sex. The movie's dark tone will put some viewers off, but Ruffalo's effortless magnetism serves him well; no woman in the audience will question how quickly Ryan... More Info about this DVD

    Swimming Pool (Unrated Version) DVD

In terms of alluring female nudity, Swimming Pool shows a lot, but it's what remains concealed that gives this erotic thriller a potent, voyeuristic charge. With his Hitchcockian handling of secrets and lies, prolific French director François Ozon reunites with his Under the Sand star, Charlotte Rampling, to tell a seductive tale of murder and complicity, beginning when British mystery novelist Sarah Morton (Rampling) seeks peace and relaxation at her publisher's French villa, only to find his brash, sexually liberated daughter Julie (Ludivine Sagnier) arriving shortly thereafter to disrupt her solitary reverie. What begins as mutual annoyance turns into something more sinister and duplicitous, alternating between Julie's predatory sex with men and Sarah's observant,... More Info about this DVD

    Dirty Pretty Things DVD

The luminous Audrey Tautou (Amelie) stars in Dirty Pretty Things, a riveting thriller about an illegal immigrant in London named Okwe (Chiwetal Ejiofor, Amistad), a doctor in his homeland who now works days as a taxi driver and nights as a hotel desk clerk. When a hooker tells him there's a mess in one of the hotel's bathrooms, Okwe finds a human heart in the toilet. He soon discovers a snare of desperation, poverty, and black-market body organs--and finds that his only friend, a Turkish hotel maid (Tautou), may be the next to be caught. Dirty Pretty Things, skillfully directed by Stephen Frears (High Fidelity, Dangerous Liaisons, My Beautiful Laundrette), fuses taut suspense with an unsettling portrait of life among the British underclass... The Cooler DVD

The premise of this swinging Vegas picture is enough to carry it over its narrative rough spots. The unluckiest sap on the planet (William H. Macy) is employed as a "cooler" at a casino; his very presence can chill the hot streak of any patron on a roll. He's valued by the old-school manager of the place, a role given a two-fisted, bourbon-swilling incarnation by Alec Baldwin. Macy means to quit, but then he falls for a waitress (the excellent Maria Bello, from Permanent Midnight)--might his luck be changing? The subplots are pretty much a mess, but the frank sex scenes between Macy and Bello give the movie a truly offbeat feel. The tawdry air of a second-rate casino is also nicely done: This is not the new family-friendly Las Vegas, but a tough place of superstitions, sinister... More Info about this DVD

    Bodies, Rest & Motion DVD

I got this film by default as it was coupled with the "Legend of 1900" in a 2-DVD pack. I thought goodie ... I really like Tim Roth and in "1900" he is sparkiling, brilliant and ultimately very moving.

The opening music of "Bodies..." is about the best thing about the movie, and it keeps coming back throughout the film, which is a plus (stops you chucking things at the TV out of frustration anyway).

The rest of the movie is a complete pile of pants. The characters are universally unlikeable. Roth seems to try his best with the rubbish script but fails as he has least likeable character of the bunch. You come away not knowing or caring about any of them. Absolutley nothing happens in the movie (unless you count a totally gratuitous 'get your kit off' sex scene... More Info about this DVD
