This DVD is the best money you could ever spend on yourself. For the price of about two Big-Mac meals, you can learn to burn from one of the best instructors on the planet. I was very sore after only three workouts. But my energy level started to pick-up quickly, my mental alertness, my "enthusiasm" (if you know what I mean, ladies!) and overall health. I've lost weight, gained great muscle tone, and look "hot" according to my husband (and two of his best buddies!). Hey, that's worth the money, no?
Nice DVD
I enjoyed this DVD very much. It began easily and progressed with me when I was comfortable to move on. On days when I am tired it gives me shorter simpler workouts, but when I have more energy I can do longer ones. This and The Firms Ab DVD are great together.
Great Pace and Variety
Don't be fooled by the title. I don't need to lose weight but I got this program because it goes at a bit slower pace then most that I've seen and I can really focus on the movements. I've been doing the Intermediate and advanced workouts for almost a year and I don't find them too easy or boring. I really concentrate on the movements and still feel my muscles when I'm done. They even have hand weights sections at the end of some of the Intermediate and Advanced workouts.
This was the 7th Pilates DVD or video I bought and the only one that I actually use on a regular basis. It's done at a really good pace and there are several workouts to choose from so I can always fit it in. Just doing Pilates won't make you lose weight but doing 25-35 minutes of Pilates twice a week has done more for how I look and feel then all the time I spent on the stairmaster. Since I've been doing these workouts I don't have a sore back after my walks and now that I can see my muscles and starting to have definition. So if you want to look and feel like your weight loss is actually getting you somewhere then get this Pilates DVD and do it.
I bought Pilates for Weight Loss and Ultimate Body Challenging (also by bodywisdom media) and love them both so much. I try to do a full cardio AND a 20 minute or so Pilates together at least once a week. Other days I just do one or the other. If you get one of the Ultimate Body and this DVD, you'll have all the classes you'll need. No more trekking out to the gym for the same class over and over.
I bought this DVD after the great review it received in the Yoga Journal. I needed to lose some weight but was also looking for a good yoga practice, and this DVD does that well.
Mary's instruction is clear and precise, as she is an Iyaanger trained instructor as others have indicated. So you carefully go into the poses and hold them, more so than some other styles of yoga. Great to really open up your body and developing form. You move fromm one pose, working on the pose, then move onto the next pose, in Iyanger fashion as oppossed to other styles of yoga, which are more of a pure flow style. The routines, however, are carefully put together and make sense if you have ever studied yoga.
She is encouraging without being too overly sappy or annoying like some... More Info about this DVD DVD Release Date: Released the 02 January 2004 Usually ships in 24 hours

"Calorie burning cardio plus Pilates-based toning," promises this 40-minute Crunch program, which combines Pilates-influenced standing and mat exercises. In the cardio section, instructor Ellen Barrett uses Pilates terminology (e.g. "standing imprint") as she adapts Pilates moves to rather repetitious standing exercises--mostly squats and leg lift variations--which work the core muscles of the abdominals and back as well as legs, thighs, and buttocks. The moves are sometimes slow and rarely "travel," so your heart rate might not stay elevated, although your lower body and core muscles will get a good workout. The toning section consists of Pilates mat exercises which work abs, back, thighs, and buttocks. One exerciser demonstrates easier modifications. The background music is dominated by... I've had this DVD for several months and enjoy the Intermediate Pilates workout. It only takes about 15 minutes, so there's no excuse for not fitting it in somewhere in the day. Since I have trouble sticking with exercise programs consistently for long periods of time, that's a real plus for me.
Don't worry about the speed of the routines. Hello, that's what the remote control is for on your DVD player! Just pause and rewind until you "get it" and once you can do all the exercises then you'll really appreciate the pace of the workouts because they don't waste your time. This is a bare-bones low-budget video production with no fancy graphics or music, no sexy instructors and the outfits worn by the instructors look like they are from the fifties. But I kind of like the... More Info about this DVD DVD Release Date: Released the 19 June 2002 Usually ships in 24 hours

I love how this DVD is divided into 10 minute segments. it's perfect to do first thing in the morning to get going or on the weekend for a full 50 minute workout. the moves are pretty basic, but they'll give you a good workout when you do the whole video. I would definitely try another Pilates video by this instructor. More Info about this DVD Actor(s): Lara Hudson DVD Release Date: Released the 21 September 2004 Usually ships in 24 hours

Pilates Complete for Everyone is a bargain: about four hours of Pilates instruction and practice, from beginning to advanced levels, more than 35 workouts all on one DVD. The workouts are divided first by level (basic, beginning, intermediate, challenging, advanced), then into individual 5- to 25-minute workout chunks so that you can fit your Pilates into the busiest day. The 10- to 20-minute introductory segments for each level have the most instruction. Certified Pilates instructor and former professional dancer Karen Garcia has an impressively lean, supple, and strong body--a testament to her Pilates practice. The instruction is done by voice-over; Garcia's moving body doesn't talk or smile. Although Pilates is best learned from an instructor who can give you ...
