People use the word "sleeper" loosely, but A Wedding for Bella (released to theaters as The Bread, My Sweet) truly fits the bill. This tiny-budgeted charmer had modest distribution, but managed to win over the audiences that stumbled across it. In order to please his beloved elders, an Italian-American (Scott Baio) plots to marry a woman (Kristin Minter) he doesn't even know, with much of the action set around the homey ethnic bakery he owns in Pittsburgh. Yes, it's all very Moonstruck, but without the star power or the glossy finish; in fact, the production values (and some of the acting) in this film are variable to the point of clumsy. But there's a warm, intimate mood here that's inextricable from the homemade style. And, in an image-changing turn, former kid star... I just love this movie. I saw it first on the Hallmark Channel when I was channel surfing, then I purchased the DVD. Each time I've watched it, I find I like it more and more. However, I would have loved to have seen more story/character development and a little more romance, perhaps even a wedding between Tyler & Jordan (reason for 4 & not 5 stars). For instance, the scene outside the barn after Tyler has turned away & ran from Jordan, he says ".. I never expected this" It's not clear at first exactly what it is he wasn't expecting. You realize later that he never expected to fall in love with her. Would be great if a sequel follows!??? More Info about this DVD Director(s): David S. This movie spoke to me in so many ways. It really showed how we can take something that the world looks down on such as a disability and use it for good. I'm not saying having a disability is a positive thing: I have a disability and I know how difficult it can be to live with everyday. But I also know from exoerience how it can be used to show people differences in people can really used to educate and bring people together.
The child with the severe disabilities, Julia, had a loving mother, grandmother and uncle (unfortunately, her father wanted to split because he thought her life was a waste, which is very sad for him because that would mean that he would really miss out on lot of love and happiness). She had this loving family but needed a friend who was also a... More Info about this DVD Director(s): Dick Lowry DVD Release Date: Released the 26 February 2002 Usually ships in 24 hours

This is really not a bad movie. True, the script isn't the greatest thing and it is predictable, but that doesn't make it a bad movie. The plot is interesting, the situation is heartbreaking and the acting is pretty good. The problem this film has is that it is both a chick flick and a drama and it can't seem to decide which it wants to be. If you think you can live with that, then I recommend it. If you don't, then don't buy it. All you basically need to know about the plot is that two people, Anna and Charlie, meet the weekend they are both planning their weddings and they fall in love. And, of course, we all know what happens at the end, but all in all, it is still a pretty romantic movie.

Garnet is the heroine, a young family doctor who recently lost her husband to a death-ride on a rodeo bull. She is tired of her father-in-law and other people in her picturesque town of Sweetwater, CO, being tired of HER unhappiness. Out of desperation she hires a "boyfriend" from an escort agency, and tells him to sweep her off her feet whenever they're in public to convince everyone they're seriously involved.
While the premise was appealing, the reality was a bit more mottled. Garnet, as both doctor and grieving wife, I found less than convincing. Claiming to have no interest in romance, she nevertheless behaves in an immature and needy, please-love-me-come-hither manner. She treats her long-suffering hiree with disdain, even while availing herself fully (and I do mean...
