Review(s): DVD Carmen Electra's Aerobic Striptease Series | |
| This set is the BEST!! | |
I ordered the set of 5 dvd's through the actual striptease website on Feb. 12 and I received my dvds on Feb 23. I started using the tapes on the 24th and as of today (March 4) I have only lost 7 lbs but I have lost several inches. I have been using the #2 dvd "Fit to Strip" everyday and do all of the routines, which lasts about an hour from start to finish. I have tried tae bo and other workout tapes, but I didnt like them at all...I had a tough time keeping up, and watching those size 2 girls doing those perfectly choreographed routines without breaking a sweat just made me feel worse. I decided to only use the #2 dvd for now for my own personal reasons...I want to get into shape before learning the other dvds, but that is just my preference but I have watched the other dvds and I CAN'T WAIT to start using them...but first things first!! I have read some reviews where people complain that Carmen and Michael stop to get a drink and towel off...and that is true, but it is a 10 second interval between routines...it isn't like they do it during the routine...and I for one am thankful for those 10 seconds so I too can get some water and get ready for the next set of exercises. I also like this dvd because you see Carmen make some mistakes, and it lets you know she is human and also you see them sweat and breathing hard too, so you don't feel so bad. Michael lets you know it is ok if you can't keep up, to just try your best and you can always come back to it. These exercises are so much fun, and you feel them the next day, but the sore muscles are actually a wonderful feeling because you know the exercises are working. Another thing I like is they work you really hard, then when you think you can't last another second, he slows things down...the exercises are no less effective, but it gives you a chance to cool down and catch your breath, and then you are right back to working hard again. Here is a quote from an article I read by a very well known fitness expert, about why it is very beneficial for an exercise program to have this quality of speeding things up and slowing down..."During all of my workouts, I do interval training, in which I alternate bursts of speeding up and slowing down throughout the workout. If I'm running, I might walk for three minutes, slowly jog for five, walk for three and then run really fast for five minutes. If you add periods of intensity to your workouts, you will rev up your metabolism, which helps you stay toned and slim. You also demand more energy from your body when you stop and start, which ultimately burns more calories, thereby making intervals one of the best ways to train." You have instructors that actually come off as human, exercises that work and are fun, and it helps you lose weight and targets your whole body. What more can anyone ask for in a workout? I completely recommend this set to anyone!

| Somewhat effective, but not what I thought it would be |
After using the dvds a few times now...I definately am feeling better and more toned. It's a lot of fun to learn the routines, but I guess when I purchased the Dvds I thought I'd be doing one long fitness routine. In actuality..the dvds are short segments of instuction and routine run-through. Here's a run down of each of the 5 Dvds.Disc #1: (Strip Your Way to Fitness) Has a good warm up routine that shows up on each of the 5 discs so that you are doing the same routine before each "workout". This disc also has a couple of dance routines that are very short. I think the point is to do the step-by-step learning part over and over to get the workout...the actual routines alone are not a work out...they are only a couple mins. long. Disc #2: (Fit to Strip) Is probably the disc I'll end up using the most. It is total body toning targeting hips bun and abs...the problem with this is that it's only a 30 min workout and by the time you feel it or the exercise begins to take effect...they are on to the next exercise. I do feel better after doing the exercises, but I'll probably end up pausing the dvd so that I can do a lot more sets of each exercise to get some results. Disc #3: (Advanced Aerobic Striptease) This is probably the most useless dvd in the whole set. She shows you a sexy librarian routine and a hat-tie-men's shirt routine that are each only a few minutes long! There was no need to put all of these little routines on separate dvds... Disc #4: (The Lap Dance) Why did they put this one lonely routine on one dvd? To make more money I'm sure, but this could've easily been put on Disc #3 Disc #5: (Hip Hop) Usefull** Includes the dancer's warm up and a hip hop routine that is great cardio. This 5-Dvd set is not exactly what I thought it would be. It's a fun idea that's helped motivate me to exercise, but expect to get your results from the "Instructional" portions of the dvd because the actual routines are each only a few minutes long.
