DVD Farscape - Season 4, Collection 2
Episodes 6-10 of Farscape's fourth season continue the themes set at the start of the year while concentrating on one-off adventures. John Crichton is still upset that Aeryn Sun has not confided in him about her pregnancy; Aeryn is still trying to cope with the loss of his dead copy; Chiana is trying in her lascivious way to get them back together; Scorpius and Sikozu are gradually becoming integrated into the life of the crew, and John and the others are trying to learn to trust their former arch-enemy. In "Natural Election," the process of choosing which of the crew shall be captain becomes more urgent when the living ship Moya is attacked by a space-dwelling plant that hangs around wormholes; "John Quixote" has Crichton and Chiana trapped in a surreal gameworld full of old friends and enemies; in "I Shrink, Therefore I Am," Crichton has to rescue his friends from bounty-hunters who have shrunk them and hidden them in their heavily armored bodies. Aeryn finds herself compelled to homicidal violence in "A Prefect Murder" and time goes wonky on her; Crichton has to get into drag and Scorpius has to vomit a lot to save their crewmates from getting caught in the cross-fire of "Coup by Clam." These are enjoyable albeit routine episodes of the most imaginative space opera ever to hit the TV screen, though they only hint at the wonders that were to come later in this final season. --Roz Kaveney |

Review(s): DVD Farscape - Season 4, Collection 2 | |
| Brilliant - totally frelling brilliant |
I'm British and I get the region 2 DVDs, but I CAN say that these episodes, while not being the best of the seasons, are a welcome return to the season one stories. Although many think that season four is the weakest, while I agree to a degree, Farscape still remains as the best written, best acted SF show on telly. And to that guy who thinks that A Prefect Murder is edited wrongly by ADV, maybe he should watch the episode again. The first four scenes are repeated over and over for the first ten minutes of the show from the different character's perspectives. It's an artistic thing, a different way to tell a story, it's EXPERIMENTAL, and it's one of the reasons why I love the damn show.

| A GREAT SET | |
This is an incredible collection! By the way, another review on this page - "Farscape is great but this collection has problems" written by "a viewer from peeksill" COMPLETELY misses the point of the episode "A Prefect Murder." There's nothing at all wrong with the DVDs. What's happening in the shots he describes is a PREMONITION. Aeryn is having a premonition of violent acts she later is compelled to commit. It's what the episode is about! The shots are repeated because she is experiencing the events again. This collection is great. There's a wonderful and funny interview with Jonathan Hardy, who is the voice of Rygel, and LOTS more. FARSCAPE is an educated, exciting show!

| A collection of good episodes (but not the best...) |
For this collection of episodes from season 4 of "Farscape", we get a set of good episodes (not the best this season has to offer, but enjoyable nevertheless) which focus on the crew of Moya as their problems seem to get worse and worse. Crichton and Aeryn seem to be unable to connect, their nemesis Scorpius is now residing with them, and the tension from everyone else is noticeable. Episodes include the surreal "John Quixote", which features memorable faces from the show's run and enough references to Max Headroom and Monty Python to tide you by; "I Shrink Therefore I Am", which involve Crichton's attempt to save the crew from bounty hunters with the help of Scorpius; and "A Prefect Muder", in which Aeryn becomes an unwilling assassin. Of course, a few episodes later, things really pick up, but that's another story... The special features are good, and the video and audio aren't all bad. Recommended for fans.
