I enjoy Patti Page's singing, and her voice is great on this DVD. However, I was disappointed a few of her hit songs were limited to a medley of about 10 minutes. If you are looking for The Tennessee Waltz you'll have to look elsewhere. There is a nice medley with Lee Liberace, and the DVD is in glorious black and white, but I was disappointed the songs associated with Patti Page was so limited. It was not what I expected, and I was disappointed.
The Singin' Rage rules!
Wow, no wonder Patti Page was so popular for so many decades! This is an excellent collection of performances from her television show. Sadly, there are no program notes, so it is difficult to pinpoint what year these originate from. I'm guessing early 60's, since "What Now My Love" wasn't composed until then. A few clips are probably from '58 or '59. She was such an enchanting performer! And it's nice to see this isn't just a dull parade of her hits. She sings quite a few hits not necessarily associated with her. The sound and video quality is ok...some additional remastering would have resulted in a 5 star review. But for Patti fans, this is an absolute must!
She's probably best known these days as actor George Clooney's aunt, but way back in the day, Rosemary Clooney (who died in 2002) was hot stuff, a pop singer with mild jazz leanings and more than a few hits. Rosemary Clooney: Singing at Her Best showcases her rich, lovely voice, and with some 17 songs (including one medley) crammed into just 40 minutes, there's plenty to choose from here, even if it's almost totally bereft of those hits. What we get in these various vintage clips (all in black & white, many apparently from Clooney's own '50s TV show) is a singer who was very much of her time: smiling, perky, perfectly coiffed, wearing an array of bows, lacy collars, and chaste gowns--i.e., appealing, wholesome as all get out, and strictly squaresville. Song-wise, there are some... More Info about this DVD Actor(s): Rosemary Clooney DVD Release Date: Released the 06 April 2004 Usually ships within 24 hours

I had seen the special, "Fever", on PBS. At that time, I taped it. But, through a foolish error - and the fact that I had not placed a label on the tape, I taped over it. I was thrilled to be able to find it, for sale, at Amazon.com.
This is a piece of artistic history that every Peggy Lee fan should have. It is a must!
Every clip makes one remember that this is one of the sexiest and most accomplished artists of our time - or any other time. Her rendition of "Lover" makes ones blood boil with yearning and desire; "Fever" pulses with a sensuality that no other singer will ever deliver. "The Shining Sea" evokes memories of a love that is branded on the heart, forever. And, the often forgotten "Here's to You" is an anthem to love and peace, everywhere. One of the finest American musicals, this 1944 film by Vincente Minnelli is an intentionally self-contained story set in 1903, in which a happy St. Louis family is shaken to their roots by the prospect of moving to New York, where the father has a better job pending. Judy Garland heads the cast in what amounts to a splendid, end-of-an-era story that nicely rhymes with the onset of the 20th century. The film is extraordinarily alive, the characters strong, and the musical numbers are so splendidly part of the storytelling that you don't feel the film has stopped for an interlude. --Tom KeoghMore Info about this DVD Director(s): Vincente Minnelli - Alan D. For Julie Andrews fans, Star! will be something more than just a legendary albatross around Old Hollywood's neck--after all, Julie is onscreen virtually every minute of this film, singing and dancing and flouncing around in an endless parade of over-the-top costumes. Seeing her tackle a variety of Noel Coward tunes and a nicely understated "Someone to Watch Over Me" is pleasant, but it's easy to see why this three-hour musical failed to click with 1968 audiences. A biopic of the celebrated stage star Gertrude Lawrence (puckish Daniel Massey plays Coward, Lawrence's childhood chum), the movie staggers around between the big production numbers. Its social message--independent Lawrence just needed a man to boss her around--was just as grating in the age of The Graduate as it is...
