Girls Will Be Girls is a hilarious and four star movie. If you ever needed another movie to build some character and give you new lines to say to your friends (and enemies) - this is it!
While the beginning and middle are hilarious, it just seems to drag on forever! It holds together well throughout until the end. I have watched this movie several times and while I love it every time I normally turn it off after 3/4 of the way through. The ending is good, but not something I need to repeat often.
Ending aside, this movie is certainly worth being in your collection!!!
It was the best of movies, it was the worst of movies
This movie was very uneven. The first half I found hilarious. I literally did a spit-take in my living room over one scene. I am embarrassed to admit that because most of the humor is very low-brow and slapstick. The slut and alcohol jokes fly fast an furious (there is one line that you are guaranteed to repeat to your friends later), but only about half of them hit the mark, and to be honest by the end of the movie they get kind of old. A lot of the humor is very campy - we loaned our copy to two of our lesbian friends who couldn't get into it at all. So my verdict would be the first half is pretty funny, with parts hilarious, and parts that were good. The second half was pretty lame, and by the end, I was pretty glad to see the end. The hilarious parts in the first half were enough for me to want to own a copy. My advice would be to rent this one first if you can.
Brilliant. Witty. Dark. (very dark)
If you, like my roommate and I, have a "nothing is sacred" sense of humor, and are able to laugh at even the most twisted subjects like drunk driving, abortion, rape, and dying pet dogs, you will absolutely LOVE this movie. We've watched it 4 times now, and still hear occasional lines we somehow missed the first few times around. The writing is absolutely brilliant. I'm obsessed with finding more scripts by the writer of this film, and hope like hell he does another film soon. Very few dark, campy comedies are this witty. If you enjoyed "Sordid Lives" you'll love this film. If you died laughing at the bathroom scene in "Trick" (with the Coco the drag queen and Gabriel) --you'll love this film. If your sense of humor is so dark, that you occasionally horrify some prude person with one of your jokes, you might as well skip renting it, and buy it now. I'm convinced that anyone who's given this movie a bad review is either 1) too prude to laugh at "taboo" subjects, or 2) doesn't know how to enjoy non-Hollywood-esque independent films. My roommate and all 5 of my gay friends laughed without holding back, from the beginning to the end. And if you like to drink, (who doesn't?) pour yourself a tall one. It'll make it even better.

If you've got a taste for big hair, broad Texas accents, and gay rights, this mixture of white-trash comedy and coming-out melodrama is for you. The king, or maybe that should be queen, of all drag shows, New York City's 10th annual Wigstock festival, provides the setting for this lively and frequently funny documentary. Despite a slow weird beginning I enjoyed this movie more than words can say. It was funny weird, thought pervoking and it left me feeling really good despite some real life situations that were not always happy. I could identify with the mormon dude since I know well his pain having come from a strict hardcore Bible Thumping BAPTIST family myself. Trust me "Baptist's" are no more accepting or tolerant of gays or gay friendly folk than the religious neanderthals seen in this movie.
Despite the religious homophobic downers this was my kind of movie it had a happy ending I could honestly beleive. This movie left me happy and filled with hope. The unrated version has the steamier sex scene but what you see is pretty tame by todays standards. I would not recommend this...
