DVD Wild Things 2
Wild Things 2, the purported sequel to the 1998 guilty-pleasure classic, returns to steamy Florida for another tale of trashy thrills among the lives of high school students. Brittany (Susan Ward, of the Aaron Spelling soaps Malibu Shores and Sunset Beach) is a beach-volleyball stud and nice girl whose chance for happiness is threatened by her vicious rival Maya (Leila Arcieri). Toss in a suspicious investigator (Isaiah Washington), some plot twists, and laughable dialogue, and sit back for the ride. Wild Things 2 isn't really a sequel; none of the characters (and not surprisingly none of the actors) return, though there is a re-do of the original's most famous scene. That's about the only semi-noteworthy aspect of this straight-to-video potboiler. --David Horiuchi
I just want to say this movie rocks! Its my new favourite movie! I love it! There are so many twists and turns, you have to wait till the end to find out. Not many movies keep you guessing as Wild Things 2. It definatly surpasses the first one. Too bad it didnt make it to theatres-it would have been hot! Everything about it is intriging. The stars, location, plot and outcome. And yeah, the 3some seen was hot! I soo recommend this movie. I love it!
Pleasure Free And Guilty Of Being All Wet
As a fan of the original film, I knew there was no way that Wild Things 2, a direct to video sequel would be as good. After all, none of the characters, or the director of the original are a part of this chapter. Never a good sign in my book. Still, I found myself curious though, much the same way I was with Bring It On Again, I couldn't help myself. Even though, I enjoy steamy cinema, as much as the next guy, I still came away after I watched, thinking my initial instints were correct.
Brittany (Susan Ward) and her rival Maya (Leila Arcieri) are two sultry Florida high school girls who, working together, hatch a murderous plot to scam a large sum inheritance. Soon they find themselves caught in a deadly web of blackmail and sex with a sleazy insurance investigator (Isaiah Washington).
Directed by Jack Perez, the film shouldn't even be called, Wild Things 2. This turkey doesn't have much to it that's worthwhile. The writers tried to stick in twists and turns to keep it interesting, but for the most part they fall below the mark. The acting is laughable--and not in a fun way--and not meant as a compliment in any way. The filmmakers even resort to all but restaging the first film's most memorable scene. What were they doing? Paying Homage?....
If there's any way you find yourself looking at the extras, you'll find a fluffy "making of" featurette, and a few product trailers. My advice though...Avoid this poor excuse for a sequel and stick to the original
Amusing title
Is this a follow-up to Wild Things 1? Not even close. Trying to cash in by using the title and the numerical '2', this movie plays like a bad USA B movie. A no-name cast and a silly storyline, very little of the elements that made WT1 so popular. If you want the real thing, just buy Wild Things(the R rated version) and if you must have it, the new 'unrated' version. WT2 sadly is a frisbee.
Wild Things is the kind of lurid, trashy thriller that you'll either dive into with unabashed pleasure or turn away from in prudish disgust; it's entirely your choice, but we suggest the former option since it's obviously much more fun. The plot's so convoluted it's hardly worth describing, except to say that it's set in humid Florida and involves a respected high school teacher (Matt Dillon--yes, Matt Dillon as a teacher!) who is faced with accusations of rape by a student (Denise Richards, from Starship Troopers) who had been giving him the kind of attention most people would consider improper for such a "nice" young lady. Another student (Neve Campbell) raises a similar charge against the teacher, and that's when a police officer (Kevin Bacon) begins to investigate the... In terms of alluring female nudity, Swimming Pool shows a lot, but it's what remains concealed that gives this erotic thriller a potent, voyeuristic charge. With his Hitchcockian handling of secrets and lies, prolific French director François Ozon reunites with his Under the Sand star, Charlotte Rampling, to tell a seductive tale of murder and complicity, beginning when British mystery novelist Sarah Morton (Rampling) seeks peace and relaxation at her publisher's French villa, only to find his brash, sexually liberated daughter Julie (Ludivine Sagnier) arriving shortly thereafter to disrupt her solitary reverie. What begins as mutual annoyance turns into something more sinister and duplicitous, alternating between Julie's predatory sex with men and Sarah's observant,... Two guys at a college prep school make wagers on seducing naive young girls, and then meet their match when they agree to see which one can seduce the most popular and devious girl who has her own agenda to everything. I think this film is really sucks but I loved Cruel Intentions 1 and CI2 but this film sucked. Based on Susanna Moore's popular novel, In the Cut centers on Frannie (Meg Ryan), an emotionally stifled English teacher who gets steamy with sultry Malloy (Mark Ruffalo, You Can Count On Me), a cop who's investigating a series of brutal murders--but Frannie soon suspects that Malloy may be the killer. As a psychological thriller, In the Cut is heavier on psychology than thrills; the story is a skeleton that director Jane Campion (The Piano, An Angel at My Table) cloaks in one of the most nightmarish visions of urban life since Taxi Driver or Seven, accompanied by lots of explicit sex. The movie's dark tone will put some viewers off, but Ruffalo's effortless magnetism serves him well; no woman in the audience will question how quickly Ryan... Eurotrip views the Old World as a goofy parade of soccer hooligans, horny camera saleswomen, and pawing lechers reeking of cologne. After being dumped by his girlfriend, Scotty (Scott Mechlowicz) discovers that the German e-mail correspondent he thought was a guy is actually a hot girl--so naturally he jets off to Europe to find her, joined by his friends Cooper (Jacob Pitts), Jamie (Travis Wester), and Jenny (Michelle Trachtenburg, trying to leap into sexier roles after her adolescent characters in Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Harriet the Spy). Just as naturally, a cavalcade of national stereotypes, wacky mishaps, and mild homophobia follows, but it's all tossed off with reasonable good cheer (and the fight with the robot mime is pretty funny). Featuring...
