Whodunnit? That's the question Jack Albany hopes to expose in Disney's 1968 madcap comedy Never a Dull Moment, starring Dick Van Dyke. Albany, a struggling actor in New York, is mistaken for infamous West Coast gangster Ace Williams and whisked to the mansion of mob boss Leo Smooth to be hired as lead mobster in an art museum robbery. Joining the company of a motley group of operators, Albany realizes that his only chances for survival depend on performing the acting job of his life: impersonating a dangerous killer. Things get dicey when the real Ace Williams shows up, since one of this pair of aces is about to be discarded as a joker. Albany's only hope for escape is to convince an innocent art teacher (Dorothy Provine) to become his ally. Combining Van Dyke's physical comedy with a stellar supporting cast (Henry Silva, Slim Pickens, and Jack Elam) make this lesser-known Disney film a delightful family jaunt. Dick Van Dyke at his best !

Dick Van Dyke plays an actor who gets mistaken for a gangster. And they want him to help them steal a painting, He try's escaping from the big house but something always goes wrong. He gets in to more trouble when the real gangster that he is supposed to be, turns up!

Watching Dick Van Dyke playing a gangster is VERY funny. A film not to be missed!

    Fun Live Action Disney

Well, in the hit and miss world of Disney live action DVD releases, it looks like we lucked out on this one. The ever so king of physical comedy, Dick Van Dyke, is presented here in this delightful comedy in its original aspect ratio of 1.75:1. As one viewer stated, buying Disney live action DVD's is like rolling dice. Looks like we have a winner on this one. Van Dyke scores a hit with his performance along with a delightful support cast of quality actors; Edward G. Robinson, Dorothy Provine, Jack Elam, Henry Silva and Slim Pickens along with several recognizable character actors.

This DVD one not to be missed. But keep boycotting the "Black Bearded" releases and reward Disney when they bow to the wishes of the consumer.

    The Ugly Dachshund DVD

When a Great Dane puppy is raised with a litter of Dachshunds, it naturally thinks it's a Dachshund too--even when it grows to 10 times the size. Dean Jones and Suzanne Pleshette star as the hapless couple who took in the galumphing dog, which wreaks havoc on their house and home. The Ugly Dachshund is mostly a series of spectacular disasters (the doggy demolition of Jones's art studio will delight kids and reduce adults to nervous wrecks), but it's held together by the convincing domestic banter of Jones and Pleshette (who was quite a dish in 1965); the pair went on to star in a couple of other Disney live-action flicks, Bluebeard's Ghost and The Shaggy D.A.. Despite some racial and gender stereotypes, it's a good-natured and amusing movie in the Disney... More Info about this DVD

The One and Only, Genuine, Original Family Band DVD

"All I know is, the Democrats elected a president, and the Republicans cheated 'em out of it!" No, this is not a Michael Moore documentary, but a 1968 Disney musical. The One and Only, Genuine, Original Family Band is probably the best musical comedy set against the 1888 presidential campaign between Grover Cleveland and Benjamin Harrison. The family band, a bit like American prairie Von Trapps, settles in the Dakota territory. Problem is, Grandpappy Walter Brennan is a diehard Democrat, and Dakota is rife with Republicans, including the suitor (John Davidson at his dimpledest) to his granddaughter (Lesley Ann Warren). The score by the Sherman brothers is not their best, and the "family fare" approach almost killed Disney films during this era. Nice to see old hoofer Buddy Ebsen... More Info about this DVD

    Follow Me, Boys! DVD

Lemuel Siddons is a musician (but studying to be a lawyer) with a travelling band around the early 1930s. The bus makes a brief stop in a small town called Hickory, a charming middle-America kind of place, and Lem makes a fateful decision to stay. He ends up volunteering to be the Boy Scout leader, impressing the sweet and beautiful Vida in the process. As a selfless Scout leader he touches the lives of the boys in the town down through the years and influences them for the better, particularly young Kurt Russell.

One of my favorite movies of all time, one I like to put on every once in a while when I need a great inspiring kind of movie. Fred MacMurray plays the role so wonderfully, and I'm reminded of kind Scoutmasters I had when growing up. But it's not just a great... More Info about this DVD

Hot Lead and Cold Feet DVD

When I was growing up, this was one of the many classic Disney movies we had taped from the tv, among others, like Snowball Express and Follw Me, Boys. But this is definitely my favorite. After all these years, I still memorize the song in the opening credits, and I can probably recite half the movie.

I have been waiting for this to come out on DVD for about 6 years, and I'm so glad I'll finally have the chance to own it! More Info about this DVD

Now You See Him, Now You Don't DVD

This film has indeed been formatted to widescreen via a process called "soft matte". What's soft matte, you ask? In simplistic terms, they put plates (black bars) on screen to block out the top and bottom of the picture of the original film, in order to create a widescreen presentation. So the original prints are in the original 1:37.1 ratio. They soft matted this film in order to create an anamorphic presentation. So in other words, yes, it's fake widescreen.
