DVD Sesame Street - Learning About Numbers
How many ways can you count from 1 to 20? The folks at Sesame Street know them all and run through them several times in this delightful, funny, and educational half-hour video. Big Bird and Count Onetwothree are the hosts of this takeoff on "The Tonight Show," in which Big Bird (as our Johnny Carson stand-in) introduces numbers and the Sesame Street folks act them out. Learning About Numbers is a mixture of original material and skits and songs from Sesame Street. A personal favorite: Kermit the frog as a passenger on an elevator operated by the Count, who keeps passing Kermit's floor because he loves counting the numbers so much. --Marshall Fine

The Funniest Tape In the History of Sesame Street
This was always my favorite tape. The fact that they had the Sesame Street characters make the kids learn the numbers. My two favorite scenes were 1 when the Count was being an elevator operator and while trying to get Kermit to the 7th floor of the building the Count was counting the floor numbers and went past 7 and Kermit got extremely paranoid and even more nervous when the Count skipped the 7th floor second time around. 2. When the Count took Ernie to his house so he can help him out and the Count tells Ernie to answer the phone while he searches for something to count. The phone rings and the count decides to count the number of rings while Ernie tries to pick up the phone. The COunt refused to let Ernie answer the phone because he wanted to count the rings and when Ernie finally gets to the phone, the person that called had hung up already and the Count claimed that Ernie wasn't fast enough and Ernie replys "Well Count you wouldn't let me answer the phone.

My baby loves it. I hate using the "electronic babysitter", but it gives me a much-needed moment's peace sometimes.
Classic Sesame Street!
If you grew up watching Sesame Street, then you will LOVE having this video for your kids. You will recognize many of the songs and skits. No, it is not as flashy and digital as modern Sesame Street, but that's a good thing, in my opinion. If your children watch a lot of TV, their attention span might not allow them to watch this video. If you prefer to use TV/videos sparingly, like we do, your kids will love it as much as you will. I just hope they put this on DVD!

When Ernie finds and returns a misplaced key, he uses his knowledge of numbers to return the key to the correct guest. As Ernie begins to learn about the hotel business, he finds many common situations in which counting is essential. Throughout the 30-minute video, Ernie and his friends help children learn to count from 1 to 20 with such songs as the jazzy "That's How the Numbers Go," an original version of the Chorus Line show tune "One," and "Rap Song #11." Favorite Sesame Street characters Elmo and The Count are joined by new characters including Ding the Dinger, a furry fellow with a bell on his head, and Benny, the bellboy that responds to Ding the Dinger's dings. ... When Baby Bear must learn his alphabet in one day, Big Bird patiently takes him under his wing in Do the Alphabet. Only "The Method," (a hilarious combination of dance, song, visualization, and group therapy) can help Baby Bear on such short notice. The result is 40 minutes of ABC's Sesame Street style, where vibrant educational cartoons, enthusiastic kids, famous guest stars (here, Billy Joel), and harmonizing Muppets make lasting educational impressions. Children age 2 to 6 will enjoy the upbeat musical numbers dedicated to various letters; a favorite segment features the Boogie Woogie Piggies and their flashy rendition of the alphabet song. Throughout the well-paced show, Big Bird offers just the right blend of coaching and friendship, much like the ace support... The Muppets are putting on a play on words (get it?), a convenient framing device for a Sesame Street-style reading lesson. Get ready for some sticky, slippery fun when Prairie Dawn directs the G-rated vaudevillian act, complete with Bert and Ernie in straw hats telling corny jokes and a pie-throwing machine in fine working order. There are behind-the-scenes prop emergencies and a finale no-show, prompting rhyming lessons ("Oh, no, Hoho is a no-show!") and plenty of TV clips, including "I Am Chicken," the fowl take on the feminist anthem "I Am Woman." Elmo joins singing partners Mo and Flo in the stirring (substitute) finale, "We Got the Need to Read." Kindergarteners who think they're too old for Sesame Street might still get drawn in by challenges aimed at beginning...
