DVD Robocop 2
With the surprise success--both critical and commercial--of Robocop, it was inevitable that a sequel would emerge (actually, two sequels). But this follow-up lacked the dyspeptically funny vision of filmmaker Paul Verhoeven and wound up skimming the surface to repeat only the most superficial elements of the original: the big, clunky hero (played by Peter Weller), the ultra-violence (minus a dark sense of humor), and the plethora of action sequences. What plot there is deals with the corporation that runs the cops and its two-pronged attempt to squeeze every dime out of the populace and the city: create a new drug crisis (with an incredibly addictive synthetic drug the corporation manufactures, spread by a charismatic drug lord) and then attack with a bigger robot, one that eliminates Robocop at the same time. Would that they had. --Marshall Fine
I love this movie to no end, but it is by no means a good movie. Its one of those cheesy movies that comes on around 1 AM, sure the plot is completely original from the first movie as Robocop, a cyborg created to help police the mean streets of Detroit city in the year 2055 must now fight against a drug known only as Nuke. There is a sub plot too, as the company that manufactured Robocop are trying to create a second Robocop, but they do not succeed until the end of the movie (big battle). This movie has such poor casting in it, take for instance the mayor of Detroit is only 20 or 25 years old, the drug lord, is a bald man in his 40s and one of the main bad guys in the movie is a 12 year old played by Malcom (from Malcom in the Middle). This movie has an overabundance of unneeded violence as Robocop shoots first, then arrests the bad guys. It also has some pretty funny parts in it, some are funny-funny others are just plain so stupid you have to laugh. Even with all of my bad remarks about this movie there is lots of action, for every five minutes of dialog like "freeze dirt-bag," there are ten minutes of shooting, brawling and bad guy busting.
Not an Great Sequel but Entertaing One.
Three years later, Robocop (Peter Weller) has become an Hero in the City of Detroit but the Violence in the City has Increase. When an new dangerous drug called Nuke is making people getting addicted to it, in a fast way. Robocop is set to stop, the Creator of the Drug-Kane (Tom Noonan) but When OCP need an new Cyborg, a Tougher and Strong Cyber in thier Division to make the latest Robocop but They actually want a Mind of a Criminal instend of a Police Officer.
Directed by Irvin Kershner (The Eyes of Laura Mars, The Empire Strikes Back) made a Sloppy but an fine Sci-Fi Actioner with Excellent Stop-Motion Effects, supervised by Two-Time Oscar Winner:Phil Tippett. This Sequel is Messy and Missing the Dark-Tongue in Cheek Sense of Humor from the Original. At times, the film is a Often Funny in the most Silliest way (Not in a Dark Way as We Think). Screenplay by Frank Miller and Walton Green is quite impressive at times but flawed. Still, this Sequel was a Box Office Hit in the Summer of 1990 but Die-Hard Fans of the Series will enjoy this Second Part of the Series. Grade:B+.
Robocop 2 REVIEW
Worthwhile sequel to Verhoven's smash hit, "Robocop" has Weller reprising his role of Alex Murphy, a deceased cop brought back as a machine to fight crime in futuristic Detriot. This time around, Motor City is at war as a dictator-like drug dealer is using his new designer drug, "Nuke" to gather a group of followers. Meanwhile, most of the police force is on strike while Robo's manufacturing company, OCP, wants to take over the bankrupt city. OCP decides to create a newer more stronger "Robocop" but rather than use an actual field officer like they did with Murphy, they turn to the very drug dealer who has turned the city into a war zone. The usual violent mayhem ensues before the two Robocops battle their way through the city in an anti-climatic grudge match. "Robocop 2" is even more violent than the original but it does still feature a lot of the over-the-top humor displayed in its predecessor as well. Fans of the first will enjoy but most others will proably be unimpressed.
This is the first time I remember the third film in a series being the absolute best. Maybe it is because this is the film where Robocop finally gets his priorities straight- as well as the rest of the Detroit PD. I always saw the character as more of a knight in shining armor than a cop, and here he comes across as all that. As a matter of fact, with his new flight pack he comes across as a shining avenging angel.
I especially enjoyed the scenes where the corporate managers of the OCP Corp (Offensive Capitalist Pigs) offed thenselves by jumping out of windows and shooting themselves. Too bad life doesn't follow art more often. After all, this film only slightly exagerates the attitude of multinational corporate managers towards the American people. They sold us out to their corporate... More Info about this DVD Actor(s): Robert John Burke Director(s): Fred Dekker DVD Release Date: Released the 08 June 2004 Usually ships within 24 hours

When it arrived on the big screen in 1987, Paul Verhoeven's RoboCop was like a high-voltage jolt of electricity, blending satire, thrills, and abundant violence with such energized gusto that audiences couldn't help feeling stunned and amazed. The movie was a huge hit, and has since earned enduring cult status as one of the seminal science fiction films of the 1980s. Followed by two sequels, a TV series, and countless novels and comic books, this original RoboCop is still the best by far, largely due to the audacity and unbridled bloodlust of director Verhoeven. However, the reasons many enjoyed the film are also the reasons some will surely wish to avoid it. Critic Pauline Kael called the movie a dubious example of "gallows pulp," and there's no denying that its view of... Early on in Robocop 3, an action figure of our metal hero on the nightstand in a little girl's room informs us that he's now become a children's toy. The image is right on the money; despite following up two of the most violent, hilarious sci-fi/action films ever made, Robocop 3 is strictly for the kiddies. It's not just that the gore has been toned down considerably to make for a PG-13 rating; also excised is the straight-faced portrait of a world run by corporate fascism. When evil corporation OCP, and its even more evil Japanese parent company, plan to raze a Detroit neighborhood to put up the shining new Delta City, the residents (including the aforementioned adolescent, who conveniently happens to be a computer expert) gang up to fight back, just like the angry... As a huge Robocop fan, it is easy for me to overlook the flaws and cosmetic blunders and enjoy the meat of the movie: Action. There is lots of good action featuring my favorite character, Robo himself.
In this movie he faces "Robocable," his replacement, and the ensuing battles and chases are excellent.
Don't set hopes too high, but this is worth a look. More Info about this DVD Actor(s): Page Fletcher DVD Release Date: Released the 04 November 2003 Usually ships within 24 hours

In this action thriller based on an early story by Stephen King, Los Angeles in the year 2017 has become a police state in the wake of the global economy's total collapse. All forms of entertainment are government controlled, and the most popular show on television is an elaborate game show in which convicted criminals are given a chance to escape by running through a gauntlet of brutal killers known as "Stalkers." Anyone who survives is given their freedom and a condominium in Hawaii, so when a wrongly accused citizen (Arnold Schwarzenegger) is chosen as a contestant, all hell breaks loose. Cheesy sets and a slimy role for game-show host Richard Dawson make this violent mess of mayhem a candidate for guilty pleasure; it is the kind of movie that truly devoted Arnold fans will want to...
