Dick Van Dyke Show no 2

As soon as Morey Amsterdam came on the show took off.The writers should be proud. A delight.

more Dick Van Dyke classic memories!

Image has released a series of specially-priced discs containing some of the all-time classic episodes of THE DICK VAN DYKE SHOW. Included in this volume are:

"Where Did I Come From?" - Regarded by director John Rich as his favourite episode of Season 1. Ritchie asks his parents the question of the title, and Rob and Laura recollect their courtship days.

"That's My Boy??" - Rob remembers the confusing day of Ritchie's birth, where he became convinced that the baby was switched in the maternity ward.

"It May Look Like a Walnut" - After being spooked by a late-night horror movie on TV, Rob wakes up the next morning convinced that aliens have landed in the guise of Danny Thomas! One of the big fan favourites. Cunningly-scripted by Carl Reiner as an homage to a "Twilight Zone" episode.

"October Eve" - A nude portrait of Laura is hanging in the art gallery...the only problem is that she posed wearing clothes!

You can't go wrong with these episodes! Also featuring interviews with surviving cast members, another installment of the "Ottoman Tripper" trivia quiz and awards telecast footage. With Dick Van Dyke, Mary Tyler Moore, Morey Amsterdam, Ann Guilbert and Rose Marie.

The Dick Van Dyke Show - 6 Classic Episodes DVD

there's no question that The Dick Van Dyke Show will always be a landmark in Television Comedy. The stories and characters are as timeless today as when the show premiered 40 years ago. Our only complaint about this Canadian DVD is that the quality is not very good. It seems to be copied from 16mm prints, rather than the original film. It's also only 6 episodes. We have heard that the authorized anniversary edition of all 158 episodes is being released soon and it will be great to see DVD on DVD. More Info about this DVD

The Twilight Zone: Vol. 2 DVD

As others have already commented on the technical features of the set and the individual episodes, I just wanted to make a few comments on the series as a whole and perhaps how it was influenced by the cultural milieu of the time.

It was the drab 50s and then turbulent 60s, and the Cold War, with its threat of possible nuclear annihilation, was in full swing. Perhaps that explains the pervasive film noir ambience and dark mood that often hangs like a pall over many of the episodes. Although the characters are drawn from all levels of society and from all walks of life--from two-bit criminals to the rich and famous--many are just various and sundry low-lifes, riff-raff, criminals, and grifters. And then there are the simply down and out--the bored or emotionally overwrought,... More Info about this DVD
