DEFINITE BUY! Worth every penny!
I bought this DVD for my 20 month old son four months ago who had some "catching" up to do linguistically. I was playing the DVD everyday, since it kept my son's attention for at least 15 minutes! I was skeptical at first, not having any expectations from the program. However, the speech pathologists on the DVD knew exactly what they were doing! Clever productions, attention grabber sounds, eye-catching facial expression, and good intro of signing. Needless to say, my son started to REPEAT, SIGN, and APPLY the sounds/words he heard to everyday life! The first time I heard him say & sign "MORE" for more food, I was amazed! Highly Recommended!
Great tool for our language delayed toddler
We just got our copy yesterday. All three of my children love to watch it (5,3 and 2). My non-verbal 24 mth old laughs and giggles through the whole DVD and most importantly has attempted some of the sounds. We are really impressed with it. In fact, as far as encouraging late talkers, we would rate this one up there with "The Miracle of Mozart Numbers and Shapes". "The Miracle of Mozart" takes a different approach by using kid's voices to entice children to repeat what they hear. This DVD uses Speech Therapists and is really usefull in motivating our non-verbal toddler. It will also show you how to promote language. I can see why the parent of a typical child with normal speech development might not be impressed with this product- but if you are a parent looking for something to help promote language, this is a great choice. Has Helped my speech delayed son
My son is 4, and has a very severe speech delay. His vocabulary is very limited, and a lot of it has been very hard to understand.
In addition to having him in speech therapy, I've been on the look out for whatever I can use to help him at home.
At first, I was concerned that this video wouldn't hold his interest because it seems more geared for a younger child. But, to my surprise, I've been able to get him to watch it with me, and together we imitate the sounds and words.
As part of our home therapy, we watch this video once a week, and I'm thrilled that this video motivates him to make sounds and try to talk.
I recommend this highly to any other parents with children who are speech delayed/apraxic.

My child is 6 mos and so far this is his favorite BE show and sometimes the only thing that settles him. He's seen Beethoven, Mozart, Bach, and the Dr. Doolittle vids but thus far he's been really intrigued on all levels with this one only; I believe that's because he likes Matlin doing the signing and the many times children are on screen. The music in it is actually quite good for being, well, not hardcore orchestra as far as orchestras go. It also keeps me from wanting to rip my hair out from listening to it too much since, as I stated before, it can sometimes be the only that keeps him calm and distracted from the pains of teething. The bumble bee "Vocabulary Builder 1-5" videos are excellent. They helped my 18-mon son to speak and read greatly. Every word is so well illustrated in the vedio! The best part of them: My son loves these videos so madly and therefoer learned words from them so quickly!!! There are about 20 words in each vedio.
And the "Vocabulary Builder 1-3" have 5 multilanguage that you can choose: English, French, Spanish, German, and Japanese. That is 5-in-1 that can save you lots of money. They also have other extra benefits features such as "sign language" and "Question & answer"!

I agree with the other reviewers about the limited selection of USEFUL words. The tutorial does advise you to pick only four signs and use them over and over again when the dvd is off. But it also says to play the dvd at least 4X a week. I just don't see how words like, "dinosaur" and "horse" would fit into everyday life, at least not in an urban area in the 21st century. "Eat," "more" and "drink" are about the most useful signs in the dvd, with the runner-up being "book." I was surprised "nap" and "potty" wasn't included - wouldn't it be a DREAM if your child can tell you when he/she needs a nap or go potty??? I was so surprised to see any negative reviews on the Signing Times series that I wanted to write a comment. This is the first of an amazing series of videos that are educational, heartfelt, entertaining and amazingly impactful for a family wanting to teach their infant sign language. I highly recommend Signing Times, and am in fact online now to buy this volume as a gift for another family who would like to start their baby signing.
