This is a bottom of the barrel film in every way. You can be sure they showed no clippings of this when Dino de Larentiis was granted a lifetime achievement Oscar.
You'll need a shrink after seeing Lady Kong (a guy in a gorilla suit) make eyes at Kong (yet another guy in a gorilla suit).
Just horrible !
This movie is better than Godzilla!
It turns out King Kong is really just in a coma. They have to have a heart transplant. People go back to the island and find a giant female ape. the operation is a success. Kong escapes with his girlfriend. The army captures the female and forces Kong to retreat. Kong eventually frees his girlfriend and they have a baby. Kong battles with the military and sadly, dies. It's a sort of sad ending.
How this film was pitched
True story: this guy goes into Dino's office to pitch a few ideas for films. Dino seems completely unimpressed by them. As a last ditch effort for a sale he proposes a sequel to King Kong.
"But the monkey died at the end of the film. How can you make a sequel?" Dino asks.
"They give Kong an artificial heart!"
Dino's eyes light up and he makes a deal for the screenwriter to write it. The screenwriter goes home happy that he made a sale and clueless what to do for a story. And it shows.
Before John Hughes claimed the mantle of Hollywood's antichrist, that title was firmly held by producer Dino De Laurentiis, whose middle name may have been "hubris." He vowed that this remake of the 1933 horror classic would be a bigger hit than Jaws and that his Kong would be more sympathetic than the shark. But for all the money he spent on trying to make this monkey look real, the biggest special effect was making Jeff Bridges look like a monkey--and nearly destroying Jessica Lange's acting career before it started. The film was noteworthy mostly for how cheesy the ape looks, though this was one of the first films to be shot at the then-new World Trade Center. Even Charles Grodin, as the villainous promoter, can't get laughs in this idiotic film. --Marshall FineMore Info about this DVD Actor(s): Jeff Bridges - Charles Grodin - Jessica Lange Director(s): John Guillermin DVD Release Date: Released the 27 July 1999 Usually ships in 6 to 8 days

Charlize Theron is the latest stunning blonde to be hanging around some big ape in a Hollywood movie, this one a remake of the 1949 semi-classic with echoes of the superior King Kong. Theron plays the daugher of an American researcher killed by poachers in Africa. The baby gorilla left in her care grows up to become a hugely tall and broad specimen named Joe, living in the mountains as a mostly unseen legend among people who live there. Along comes an eco-minded emissary (Bill Paxton) from a California sanctuary, who talks the jungle girl into providing safe haven for Joe at the L.A. facility. The transition is not without discomfort, but everything is aggravated via a conspiracy of poachers to get Joe into their own greedy hands. Director Ron Underwood (City Slickers) uses... One of the most overlooked films in history, Bo Dereks debut, come on. When they kill the mother orca and she gives birth on deck, why hose it off? Throw that little guy in a pan and fry him, good tasting meal, idiots. Some trivia, the orca actually attacked Richard Harris and told him to lay off the Old Spice Cologne. Richard did, he switched to Elizabeth perfume. Not good with the orca, he dies. Armani cologne dopes. If you look close at the end you can see the mechanical penis on the orca, Richard has it lodged in his rear. Serious, worst movie in history, why am I writing a review? I don't want little children to see this and be scared at Sea World. In 1970 and 1971 I was in the US Army stationed in the Panama Canal Zone. The Army had a string of theaters in the CZ which showed both current films and a selection of older films, all of them in 35mm and most of them subtitled in Spanish. This was where I first saw THE SEA HAWK, TREASURE OF THE SIERRA MADRE and many other four star classics in 35mm. I went to see the unrestored King Kong print they played one week and I was shocked and amazed by the HUGE subtitles centered in the middle of the picture! A half year or so later and they had King Kong again, this time it was the version with the newly - discovered censored scenes restored...and no subtitles. The quality was stunning and I clearly recall that the aluring Miss Wray was very plainly not wearing a bra under her costume. I am... More Info about this DVD DVD Release Date: 22 November 2005
