    Unbelievable Funny

I have never laughed so hard in my life as to this collection. Calhoun the Lawyer, just cracks me up. Most of these shows, were oringinaly the radio shows. The show that really stands out to me, is kingfish sells Andy a Vacant lot. To me this is a classic of classics, I am afraid to play it though, to many times, as I might "Bust a gut", Every time I play that episode, I'm afraid I might choke to death from laughter. There are also three great Radio Episodes, House on a hillside,The vacation cottage, and the Great Dane. I haven't got through all 75 yet, but so far, the charaterization is fantasic, His wife,Safire, and mother in law, and also Calhoun are from the oringinal radio shows.

'PLATINUM' AMOS 'N' ANDY DVD SET

AFTER BEING TOSSED TO THE WOLVES THAT WERE RUNNING THE NAACP IN 1966,AMOS'N'ANDY WAS YANKED FROM TV SYNDICATION...'HOPEFULLY NEVER TO BE HEARD FROM AGAIN'. THE SHOW WAS NOT INTENDED TO BE RACIST.LIKE ALL SITCOMS,IT WAS AN EXAGERATION IN EXTREME OF HUMAN NATURE AND BEHAVIOR...AND THAT'S ALL IT WAS INTENDED TO BE.I HAVE BEEN COLLECTING RADIO EPISODES FOR YEARS.THE TV SERIES BECAME AVAILABLE ON VHS IN THE 1980s.AT NEARLY $200 FOR THE BOXED SET,IT WAS OUT OF PRICE RANGE FOR ME. RECENTLY I PURCHASED THIS DVD SET ON AMAZON FOR LESS THAN $40.WHILE ALL THE EPISODES ARE HERE,THE VHS-TO-DVD TRANSFER IS VERY SLOPPY.THE CLOSING CREDITS WERE ALL DUMPED,WHICH IS INEXCUSABLE!THE FLIP-BOX DESCRIBES THE SHOWS AS 'UNCUT'.IF SO,WHY DELETE THE CREDS?I AM VERY DISAPOINTED.I WELCOME THE CHANCE TO PRESERVE THE SERIES IN MY OWN LARGE LIBRARY,BUT AS A BROADCAST HISTORIAN CANNOT CONDONE THIS SENSLESS ABUSE OF SUCH A TV GEM.THE SERIES(RADIO AND TV)SUFFERED ENOUGH INDIGNITIES AT THE HANDS OF A REACTIONARY PUBLIC IN THE 1960s.WHY DEAL MORE BLOWS TO IT NOW WHEN MORE AND MORE PEOPLE ARE STARTING TO SEE IT AS IT WAS REALLY INTENDED? ADAM 9/8/05

    Very good quality

I was surprised at the quality of the DVD. I bought it and have watched it in total at least 6 times. I am so happy to be able to get this as they were my favorite as a child. I have intentions of getting other oldies. I am retired and just love being able to watch something from the past

My Little Margie - Collection No. 2 DVD

Usually you look back at old programs like the Lone Ranger and think how hokey they were. Then you realize that you, being a kid at the time could enjoy them as they were.

Then there is "Topper" the TV show. It was one big smoking commercial.

Well I sort of counted on this happening with "My Little Margie" (Gale Storm.) Boy was I surprised. The plots are complex for the small period of time they have to execute in. Hokey or not they had me laughing. And Price per pound, you get so many episodes. I am working my way through them all and find some how they are comforting like an old friend. It is fun t spot the different actors in movies and say I saw that person on "My Little Margie."

After viewing, I will put them on the shelf and they look... More Info about this DVD

1950s TV's Greatest Shows Featuring: The Jack Benny Program / Dragnet / The Burns and Allen Show / The Lone Ranger / The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet / Sea Hunt / The Red Skelton Show / Suspense / Our Miss Brooks / Mr. & Mrs. North / The Life of Riley / Racket Squad DVD

This DVD set is just plain awful.

Obscure, bottom-of-the-sewer episodes complete with authentic 1950s television broadcast quality.

Normally I would be happy to expound upon my review, but this DVD "collection" is not even worth the few extra seconds it would take to type the words.

Avoid this purchase like the plague. More Info about this DVD

    100 Episode TV Favorites DVD

This 100-episode set from Treeline Films is the quickest way to acquire a fairly diverse library of classic television programming, mostly from the 1950s, at an affordable price. All of the episodes included in this collection have fallen into the public domain and, as such, most of the programs have been sourced from syndication prints (or from video masters thereof) rather than from the original film elements. That means that audio/visual quality of the episodes varies dramatically. I've found better looking releases of some of the more commonly found shows like Bonanza, Dragnet and The Andy Griffith Show on other DVD collections but, for the most part, the prints used for this release are watchable. Buy this set, instead, for some of the harder-to-find shows (on DVD) like Four Star... More Info about this DVD
