Review(s): DVD Guitar Lessons: Learning Guitar Step 1 - How to play guitar instructional video
Practical and easy to understand
We found Learning Guitar, Step One to be very easy to follow as we learned the basics including strings, frets, cords and much more. For anyone who wants to learn how to play the guitar, or for the beginner who already plays but wants to know more about the basics of music, this is the DVD to get. The instructor is clear in his presentation while covering a great amount of material. We are looking forward to future DVDs in this series.
Learning how to play guitar
I just picked this dvd up for my son who wanted to learn how to play guitar
I liked this dvd better than another one we bought him because this one is geared for beginners who are just starting on the guitar and the last tape we got seemed to rush through the exercises to fast and would probably be better for an intermediate player
I also liked the on screen chord chart that he can sit and go through on his own pace until he understands the fingerings a little better.
I can also go to their site and download and print out every thing the instructor talked about in the lessons.
If you are someone or know someone looking to learn the guitar and have little or no previous training, I would recommend this dvd.

I decided to "try" guitar, and of course found the "guitar for dummies" DVD. The narrator covers the basics, and has you playing a sond within minutes. "Fara jaqua" isn't the coolest song, but it's something. The chords are displayed on the screen, and he goes slow enough to follow. This really is a good beginners guide to guitar.....Good luck and enjoy! I purchased this dvd for my 8 1/2-year-old daughter. I viewed the first few lessons with her. This is a very well-made video and would probably be appropriate for a motivated older teen, or a younger child if the parent is willing to sit and explain everything the instructor is saying. It is simply too fast and too comprehensive for a younger child. My daughter found a Marcy Marxer dvd much easier to follow. We'll keep the Fender one for later. This DVD is much better than the video that came with my Yamaha guitar and it contains all the information a beginner needs to know to get started playing: parts of the guitar, tuning, basic guitar maintenance, how to interpret tablature, popular chords, strumming, fingerpicking, and more advanced stuff like hammer-ons and pull-offs. You'll be playing basic chords in a matter of minutes, and after learning a few you'll follow along while a progression is played on-screen. This part is difficult and will take a bit of practice. In the end you'll have a good foundation for continuing with more advanced instruction. More Info about this DVD DVD Release Date: Released the 25 January 2002 Usually ships within 4 to 5 days

I bought this because others commented about how easily they could follow Dan. Not true! His lessons were way too fast and on top of that, he has an annoying personality. If you're a true beginner, this cd is NOT for you. More Info about this DVD DVD Release Date: Released the 05 November 2002 Usually ships in 13 to 14 days
