The item was received in a timely fashion and was in good condition, as advertised.
No Dolly Parton
This was a good dvd and rather funny however even though Dolly is mentioned on the back of the DVD along with a few other people, she nor others are actually in the movie though there are a few jokes poked fun at them.
Bob Hope and friends
Another great blast from Christmas past! This compilation was once on VHS and is finally on DVD...and the DVD contains some great bonus material. In the main body of the DVD, Bob and his wife Dolores are visited by everyone from The Judds - to Joey Lawrence and other friends at their home. As they reflect on years gone by in clips from past holiday specials, the guests are legendary - including: Jack Benny, Red Skelton and so many others. Music fans should also take note, as the DVD has a special "Silver Bells" section. Bob sang a duet of this song almost every year with a different female. Five of those performances are available on this DVD for the first time ever since their original airing! Featured duets include Gale Storm, Shirley Jones, Marie Osmond, Olivia Newton-John and Reba McEntire. The bonus "blooper" footage is also very funny - particularly the segment with the football players. I think Bob Hope practically invented the TV Christmas Special, and this walk down memory lane will make a very worthy addition to your mix of holiday viewing. At least get it for you Mom & Dad!
I rated The Vietnam Years 1 Star due to the problem of a defective disk 1. I was unable to view Years 1965 and 1966. T rate the 1964 and the other years 5 stars. I ordered the Bob Hope - The Vietnam Years (1964-1972 on two different occasions and returned them to Amazon.com. I am still waiting for a non defective replacement. I recommend that Amazon.com customers consider this before making a order for this set. So many years later, this is still funny. I have long been a fan of the Jack Benny Program on old time radio, but had never seen the television shows. I was surprised though, how good the first episode looked and sounded. Frankly I expected worse.
While the New Year's show is only so-so, the Christmas episode is superb. It's a testament to both how well developed his character miserly was and to the writing that made him so. It's easy to see why he was quietly one of the giants of comedy. He works the comedic pause better than anyone.
While the DVD itself offers pretty much nothing more than the two episodes, I recommend it based on the relatively cheap price and the merits of the Christmas show alone. I suspect that this will become regular holiday viewing for... More Info about this DVD Actor(s): Jack Benny DVD Release Date: Released the 09 November 2004 Usually ships in 24 hours

I dearly love old Christmas movies and television specials, which is why I was so very disappointed in the quality of this offering. Here was a chance to present the king of Christmas music and his warm and wonderful Christmas specials, but they blew it. This thing was obviously put together as a television special (probably for PBS) in the late 1970s or early 1980s with introductions by Katherine Crosby and Gene Kelly. Their segments are extremely dark, flat, grainy, fuzzy, and covered with dust and debris. But the worst is yet to come: most of the clips from the actual specials vary from somewhat to extremely blurry. NO attempt was made at restoration of these valuable old shows.
Such poor handling of his Christmas television legacy is a slap in the face to Bing... More Info about this DVD DVD Release Date: Released the 25 July 2000 Usually ships in 24 hours

Yes, it has all the usual Sonny & Cher show skits, bantering, music, etc. I'm bothered by it though, because I know that right before the taping of the first Christmas show, Sonny & Cher had a big blow out. While they were in Vegas that November of '72, they basically cancelled their remaining Vegas gigs and decided to end their personal relationship. The show continued, but it was all an act (a pretty good and convincing one at that, but unfortunately the tabloids had figured it out). It's strange to watch them up there goofing, with Sonny and his garlic mistletoe and Cher's broken fingernail....when you know they're both struggling to get through it. The show continued that year and through the 3rd and final season, but it was never the same again....and forget about that...
