Cannabis comedy doesn't get more juvenile than this pro-pot goof about three stoners who come to the rescue of a fourth buddy when he's arrested for feeding a lethal dose of junk food to a diabetic police horse. Kenny (Harland Williams) is sent to jail, and to rescue him from the almost inevitable trauma of homosexual rape (giving you some idea of this movie's level of humor), his buddies set out to raise his $100,000 bail by selling high-grade weed ripped off from a pharmaceutical research lab. That's about it for the plot; the rest of the movie's a parade of marijuana jokes and amusing pot-friendly cameos by the likes of Snoop Dog, Willie Nelson, and Janeane Garofalo. As two of the bong-hitting buddies, Jim Breuer (from Saturday Night Live) and comedian Dave Chappelle do their best to disguise the movie's lack of inspiration. But no matter how hard they try to milk laughs from the one-joke premise, they can't stop the movie's title from being an apt description of the movie itself. -- Jeff Shannon

Paramount Stinks!!!!
This version is basically complete garbage as Dave Chappelle & Neal Brennan had absolutely nothing to do with its release. The extras are worthless. Who honestly gives a damn about Granny's recipes (something that wasn't mentioned in the movie), or 5 minutes with a fat guy sleeping on a couch that isn't Steven Wright. The extras & the Extras on The Jerk DVD that was released around the same time, are a complete embarrassment. Paramount should learn to give fans what they want, not make up new extra's with 0 context to the movie they are appearing on. This is as bad as the first season of Viva La Bam (which was censored, even though the packing said it was uncensored). You are much better off with the original copy of the DVD, as the deleted scenes on this one are incredibly grainy. It gets 3 stars because the movie is funny.
SERIOUS TARD MOVIE!!!!!!!!!!
Why do people like this movie????I can't
understand the affinity!!!!!!!It's so stupid and
predictable,if you're over 12 you know he's going to end up
with the girl, kenny out of jail and him off the big bad
habit.
The ironic part is,the movie appeals to
pot-heads and druggies,but it actually
subtly insults them by denouncing marijuana.
I wanna talk to Samson!!!
It's hard to write a review for a movie this funny, you don't want to give it away!
Basic synopsis: Four friends live in an apartment together: Thurgood (Dave Chappelle), Brian (Jim Breuer), Scarface (Guillermo Diaz), and Kenny (Harland Williams), they all get stoned one night and get the munchies, Kenny goes to the store to get food, and ends up "murdering" a police horse. The three remaining friends start an in-house drug syndicate called Mr. Nice Guy with medical marijuana stolen from Thurgood's office to raise $100,000 to bail Kenny out of jail. Needless to say, hilarity ensues. Lookout for cameos from a pre-Daily Show Jon Stewart (Enhancement Smoker), Janeane Garafalo (Creative Smoker), Snoop Dogg (Scavenger Smoker), and Willie Nelson (Hippie Smoker), they're hilarious! The drop-dead gorgeous Rachel True appears as Thurgood's non-smoking love interest aptly name Mary Jane and Clarence Williams III is Samson, the rival drug dealer with a pseudo-blaxplotative look.
If you haven't seen Half Baked, see it! If you have a sense of humor, you'll laugh until you cry!

Dave Chappelle's shrewd parodies, stinging satires, and boldly imaginative fantasias simply pour from the second season of his Comedy Central show, in every respect as funny as his well-received debut year. The structure is the same: a relaxed Chappelle introduces each sketch to an enthusiastic, studio audience (some of these introductions amount to stand-up routines), and then the madness begins. Among the many highlights from the 13 episodes on this boxed set's three discs is a mock ad for Samuel L. Jackson beer, featuring Chappelle's hilarious impression of Jackson's stern, overbearing persona from Pulp Fiction, and a dozen other features. Chappelle, considering a career in politics, floats a couple of trial campaign commercials, including one that promises to solve America's... The 2003 debut of Chappelle's Show on Comedy Central marked a high point for the cable channel, and now the entire, wildly creative first season can be seen, with hundreds of bleeps removed. That's not to say Chappelle's Show is perfect entertainment: there are too many moments among the 12 episodes here that descend into pointless scatology and booty fever. But for the most part, Chappelle, a talented comic slowly growing into greatness, is trying to push the sketch-humor envelope and succeeds at surprising us with original concepts and merciless execution.
The merely clever material includes "National Geography's Third World Girls Gone Wild," basically an update on those topless-native-women gags of yore, and Chappelle's "Educated Guess Line," in which the sage comic... From the director of Dude, Where's My Car? comes another crazed tale of two friends on a perilous quest--in this case, to eat burgers at the fast food restaurant White Castle. The pair--repressed Harold (John Cho, Better Luck Tomorrow) and freewheeling Kumar (Kal Penn, Love Don't Cost a Thing)--get extremely high and set off on the road, only to be sidetracked by skateboarding hooligans, racist cops, an inbred tow truck driver, and Neil Patrick Harris--yes, Doogie Howser, M.D. The humor is all over the map, and it would be nice if there were one female character who wasn't a caricature, but Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle has a loose, gregarious charm, and the movie's canniness about the cliches of the buddy-movie genre give it a sneaky subversive... You remember high school? Really remember? If you think you do, watch this film: it'll all really come racing back. After changing the world with the generation-defining Slacker, director Richard Linklater turned his free-range vérité sensibility on the 1970s. As before, his all-seeing camera meanders across a landscape studded with goofy pop culture references and poignant glimpses of human nature. Only this time around, he's spreading a thick layer of nostalgia over the lens (and across the soundtrack). It's as if Fast Times at Ridgemont High was directed by Jean-Luc Godard. The story deals with a group of friends on the last day of high school, 1976. Good-natured football star Randall "Pink" Floyd navigates effortlessly between the warring worlds of... Killin' Them Softly is easily one of HBO's best comedy specials, catching star Dave Chappelle at a career high in 2000 and with an abundance of hysterical, highly polished material. Taking his time, stretching concepts and bits like a master, Chappelle plunges into a wealth of anecdotes and observations about the influx of white people into Washington, D.C. (where this show was recorded) since the 1980s. ("Who are the scariest people? White guys in black gangs. No telling what they did to get respect.") There are fantastic tales of racing cops with Chappelle's white friend, Chip, and a great story about being left alone in a limousine outside a busy crack house. Other good stuff: introducing a kid to a PePe Le Pew cartoon and realizing too late the skunk is a sex criminal, and why...
