It hardly seems possible, but The Wire's second season is even better than the first. The "visual novel" concept of this masterful HBO series is taken even further in a rich, labyrinthine plot revolving around the longshoremen of Baltimore's struggling cargo docks, where corruption, smuggling, and murder draw the attention of detective McNulty (Dominic West). What follows is a series of events which at first seem unrelated (including 13 bodies found in a cargo container), and then the ongoing effort to topple the drug empire of "Stringer" Bell (Idris Elba) and the imprisoned Avon Barksdale (Wood Harris), whose business is suffering from short supply, high demand, and disruption of distribution. The dutiful diligence of a Marine Police Patrol Officer and the moral outrage of the longshoremen's union leader are also factored into the suspicious goings-on at the loading docks, and what unfolds in these 12 episodes is an American crime epic easily on par with the Godfather saga. I love this show. Season 4 is the first one that I actually watched
regularly. I am so hooked! I just purchased season 1. I am purchasing seasons 2 & 3 today. I can't wait for the next season. I hope that this show has the success and longevity of other shows such as: ER, Law & Order,etc.
Awesome work. Brilliant acting. Exciting, edge of your seat action and suspense.
One note, I do hope that the next season finds Randy, Dukwan and Naman well. Hopefully Michael will do what he is doing but will also be alright.

It's not season 1 or 3 but check it out
My title says it all. This is a truly amazing show and season two is fantastic. But if you've seen seasons 1 and 3 you might be a little disappointed with 2. I think stepping away from the social commentary the little bit that they did, along with focusing more on the Union guys instead of B&B was a little detrimental. I do have to say that watching McNulty destroy himself because he wasn't real Po-lice was fascinating, although I find it confusing that the step back he has taken in season 4 hasn't had similar results.
