Watch It Yourself Before Showing To Young Children

I gave this to my 3 year old today and she turned it off herself by the middle of the second cartoon. She was disturbed by the first cartoon that had Donald Duck trying to beat up a baby seal, I have to say it made me a little uncomfortable because we are trying to teach her that hitting is wrong.

But the second cartoon, where the bugs in Mickey's garden grow and try to eat Mickey and Pluto is where my daughter started to cry and ran over to the TV and turned it off.

It might just be my child, because we are usually very careful and watch her videos before she does so she isn't exposed to any overly violent content. But I broke our rule with this one because...hey, it's Mickey Mouse.

Personally, my husband and I had a blast watching it by ourselves. It brought back some great memories. We wish it would have been longer!

But my advice is for the parents to watch it for themselves first before showing to to their young ones. They are the best judge of how much violence is appropriate for their own kids.

    Great for Children

I bought this title for my two and half year old son. Previously I had bought the Mickey's Twice Upon a Christmas DVD and he loved Mickey mouse. This title is great for young children as there is nothing offensive they might see in maybe some other older cartoons, aside from Goofy feeding fish tobacco. My son loves his dvd and often will choose it over other new animations that we own. This is likely not the best DVD for collectors or adults wanting to get their Mickey fix. Otherwise this is a nice family dvd with a family price.

    1 Star because it SUCKS!!

Why would you get this haphazard DVD with only six cartoons cut and censored, while you can get the 32 cartoon, uncut, uncensored, AND Bonus Features in the Walt Disney Treasures Series. Save your money on this one, and look around for the Mickey Treasures. Horrible.

Classic Cartoon Favorites - Starring Chip 'n Dale DVD

The mischievous chipmunks Chip and Dale began as the unnamed rodent-pests in "Private Pluto" (1943); they acquired names in their third film, "Chip an' Dale" (1947). Although the duo became a mainstay of the Disney shorts during the late '40s and '50s, primarily as adversaries for Donald Duck, the characters never quite gelled. Their appearance and the pitch and comprehensibility of their voices change noticeably from film to film. Chip (the smarter one with the smaller nose) and Dale (the dim one with the larger nose and, often, buck teeth) are at their best when they're trying to protect their home and acorns from Donald ("Chip an' Dale," "Out on a Limb") or Pluto ("Food for Feudin'"). They're less appealing when they become aggressors ("Three for Breakfast"). The other three entries in... More Info about this DVD

Classic Cartoon Favorites - Extreme Adventure Fun DVD

Despite what the description says, this is NOT a "NEW" collection of wild and wacky adventures. It is a collection of 8 older Disney shorts, mostly from the 40's and 50's that have a summer/vacation them to them. It's a decent collection but these eight toons hardly rank as some of Disney's all-time best. I'll only give a synopsis on what I think the best episodes are:

"No Sail" is from 1945 and features Donald and Goofy.

"Two Weeks Vacation" is from 1952 and is a Goofy short.

"Trailer Horn" is from 1950 and has one of my favorite themes where Chip and Dale annoy the heck out of Donald Duck. This time the pair keep jumping on Donald's car horn as Donald seethes in anger.

"Old Sequoia" is a Donald Short from 1945.

Classic Cartoon Favorites - Extreme Music Fun DVD

As the other reviewer mentioned many of these shorts are on the various Disney Treasures collections so if you own those then you'll want to avoid this eight short feature collection. The eight shorts on this hour-long DVD are all music themed and while they don't represent the best Disney shorts they are fairly decent.

"Mickey's Grand Opera" is from 1936

"Music Land" is a Silly Symphony from 1935 that doesn't feature any Disney Characters.

"Orphan's Benefit" is from 1941 and has Mickey, Donald, and others putting on a show for orphan kids.

"Farmyard Symphony" from 1938 is another Silly Symphony without benefit of Mickey or any of the other stable of characters. It's a symphony set to the sounds of the barnyard animals...

Classic Cartoon Favorites, Vol. 8 - Holiday Celebration With Mickey & Pals DVD

I've been a bit tough on some of these recent Disney collections due to the fact that all or most of the shorts were already appearing on the Disney Treasures sets and so getting those were a much better value. But in this case, only three of these are on those Treasures sets and each is on a different one so it makes this a definite one to pick up. Certaintly they will eventually be on the Treasures editions but until then I would recommend this set. Be advised that even though it says holiday celebration not all of these shorts really have a holiday theme. Some are simply shorts that take place in the winter.

Rescue Dog 1947 - Pluto is a rescue dog in the snow-covered mountains of the frozen north. But when he tangles with a playful baby seal, it turns out that he is... More Info about this DVD
