DVD Classic Cartoon Favorites - Starring Chip 'n Dale
The mischievous chipmunks Chip and Dale began as the unnamed rodent-pests in "Private Pluto" (1943); they acquired names in their third film, "Chip an' Dale" (1947). Although the duo became a mainstay of the Disney shorts during the late '40s and '50s, primarily as adversaries for Donald Duck, the characters never quite gelled. Their appearance and the pitch and comprehensibility of their voices change noticeably from film to film. Chip (the smarter one with the smaller nose) and Dale (the dim one with the larger nose and, often, buck teeth) are at their best when they're trying to protect their home and acorns from Donald ("Chip an' Dale," "Out on a Limb") or Pluto ("Food for Feudin'"). They're less appealing when they become aggressors ("Three for Breakfast"). The other three entries in the Classic Cartoon Favorites series, devoted to Mickey, Donald, and Pluto, repeat many of the shorts previously released in the Walt Disney Treasures series. This disc is the first one devoted entirely to Chip an' Dale. (Unrated, suitable for ages 5 and older: cartoon violence, minor ethnic stereotyping) --Charles Solomon

Disappointed
As an ardent Disney fan I was very pleased to see the release of the Chip 'n Dale collection which I had hoped would include every cartoon they ever appeared in.
However a few are missing which is very disappointing for collectors especially as there would have been plenty of room on the dvd to include them.
Poor show Disney.
Great DVD, But Dissapointing
I got this wonderful DVD today for my siblings and I (mainly me lol) to enjoy. I've always wanted to see these shorts again since you can't see them on tv (the Current Disney Channel sucks). All of the shorts are very funny, but I was dissapointed by one thing: none of the shorts were resorted in any way, it looks as if they wentr through a quick cleanup and that's it. I was expecting the picture quality on this to match that of the Goofy DVD (those were restored from the previous Treasures release), but sadly they do not. The picture is oversaturated and a bit too dark. It's great to finally have these shorts on DVD and I would recomend them to anyone who wants to see them again or who has small kids. But it would be nice if we got the perfect picture like with the Treasures DVD's. Buy and enjoy.
Wonderful DVD fo you and your kids
I bought this dvd after purchasing the "Starring Micky Mouse" volume. I have to say, being an adult I prefer to watch the Chip and Dale cartoons. I remember having a VHS of these same cartoons as a kid and I would watch them over and over. My son is two and half years old and he really enjoys watching the Walt Disney classic cartoons. This dvd has several favorites of my own and a few I had forgotten. If you're looking for something you can enjoy watching as a family with young children this is great as the price is family friendly as well as the cartoons. Probably not the best for a Disney collector, and doesn't have any extra features on the dvd. I was very pleased with this purchase and I would recommend it for any family that enjoys Walt Disney classics.

I have a two year old girl and this dvd is just long enough for her to stay interested, but not too long to bore her. Being 8 cartoons - it's not the biggest set out there, and I'll probably buy the big set as soon as I finish this comment, but It's good for a little one if you're not wanting to spend $30 on a big set. Now that I know there's a bigger set out there, and I'm a Duck fan, I'll get it. This is a good dvd to put on before dinner to keep her occupied - and, by the time dinner's ready, she's settled down and ready to eat. Goofy is hilarious. when I used to to watch him alot as a kid on Disney I couldn't help but laugh at his type of antics for humor. it was so stupid it was funny. he really touches kids too . even in his short cartoons. I would recommend everyone give Goofy a chance. young or old. you're never too young or too old for cartoons. enjoy what you will

I gave this to my 3 year old today and she turned it off herself by the middle of the second cartoon. She was disturbed by the first cartoon that had Donald Duck trying to beat up a baby seal, I have to say it made me a little uncomfortable because we are trying to teach her that hitting is wrong.
But the second cartoon, where the bugs in Mickey's garden grow and try to eat Mickey and Pluto is where my daughter started to cry and ran over to the TV and turned it off.
It might just be my child, because we are usually very careful and watch her videos before she does so she isn't exposed to any overly violent content. But I broke our rule with this one because...hey, it's Mickey Mouse.
Personally, my husband and I had a blast watching it by ourselves.... More Info about this DVD DVD Release Date: Released the 11 January 2005 Usually ships in 24 hours

Mickey's pal Pluto developed from the pair of bloodhounds in "The Chain Gang" (1930). Walt Disney liked animator Norm Ferguson's handling of the dogs' expressions, so the artists continued to work with the character. Ferguson's breakthrough animation of the flypaper sequence in "Playful Pluto" (1934), available on Walt Disney Treasures: Mickey Mouse in Black and White, Vol. 2, showed that the cartoon character could think and react to a situation through pantomime. Many cartoons follow the pattern of "Playful Pluto": the ochre dog tries to cope with either a recalcitrant object--skates in "On Ice," an inflatable rubber horse in "Beach Picnic"--or a cute but troublesome animal: a seal in "Pluto's Playmate," a gopher in "Canine Caddy" and the title character in "Pluto and the... Despite what the description says, this is NOT a "NEW" collection of wild and wacky adventures. It is a collection of 8 older Disney shorts, mostly from the 40's and 50's that have a summer/vacation them to them. It's a decent collection but these eight toons hardly rank as some of Disney's all-time best. I'll only give a synopsis on what I think the best episodes are:
"No Sail" is from 1945 and features Donald and Goofy.
"Two Weeks Vacation" is from 1952 and is a Goofy short.
"Trailer Horn" is from 1950 and has one of my favorite themes where Chip and Dale annoy the heck out of Donald Duck. This time the pair keep jumping on Donald's car horn as Donald seethes in anger.
"Old Sequoia" is a Donald Short from 1945.
