I've been waiting for this series to be available for many years. My tapes of the few aired episodes were in poor shape, and I've wanted to see the unaired ones forever. The series is wonderfully dark and was unfortunately a bit early for it's time - the things it got canceled for probably wouldn't make anyone blink today. The unaired episodes were as good as I hoped, and they managed to bring the series to an acceptable ending - you want more, but can be satisfied with where it leaves off. I highly recommend it.
Finally!
When Profit first aired on TV, I was immediately hooked after the first minute or so... It was one of the first American shows that had you routing for the villan Jim Profit, as he schemed his way up to the top of the corporate ladder via any methods necessary.
The little monologues to the audience giving us a glimpse into Profit's mind were classic, and hold up well after several viewings. I also liked the brief glimpses into Profit's past and present home life, that try to give the viewer an idea of what led the character to his motivations today.
As for the cast, they are universally superb. From the "good guys" trying to halt Profit's assault on the staff of Gracen and Gracen, to Profit's sinister mother that seems to always pop up at the wrong time, to Adrian Pasdar as Profit himself, as the machiavellian schemer that the audience loves from the first minute.
Profit was a show that I guess was just too ahead of it's time. Fox cancelled the series *way* too soon, never giving it a chance to win over a new audience. That is really too bad, because Profit may be the best US series ever to grace the small screen. At least with these DVDs, some previously unaired episodes get their chance to be watched and admired for the brilliant masterpieces they are. I just wish we had even more...
A dark, satirical look at big business
It's been said numerous times, however this series was well ahead of it's time. Jim Profit, Type A up-and-comer extraordinaire works to move himself up the executive ladder each week in order to become "the guy behind the guy". If that's all it was about you'd have a good episode of Trump's Apprentice, however the creators and stars took it up a couple of notches to make it a psychological drama flavored with enough farce to tickle the funny bones of anyone who thinks that they have an idea of what might happen behind the corporate veil. Throw in the main character's abusive upbringing, how he's chosen to fit in the world, and his relationships at work and with his co-workers, their families, and his stepmother (Lisa Blount steals every scene she is in) and you have several hours of shocks to your system.
Commentaries from the show's creators and star Adrian Pasdar are fun and gets into their heads in regards to how the show affected them and television in general afterwards.
Wonderfalls is probably the most hilarious show you've never seen. An hour-long "dramedy" about a young woman who hears the voices of inanimate objects--which instruct her to help out total strangers--the show aired on Fox in early 2004 to critical acclaim and dismal ratings. After airing four times in terrible time slots, the show was quickly canceled, but not before a hue and cry from a small but fervently devoted cadre of fans went up, begging for all 13 episodes to be released on DVD. Thus, the highest-profile DVD release of a canceled show was born, and the nine unaired episodes of Wonderfalls are finally seeing the light of day.
I'm about to exchange my second copy of this set because it is unwatchable. It doesn't just skip, it freezes--I actually had to turn my machine off to stop it at one point. I've spent way too much time restarting the discs over and over--this is no way to watch a collection I've waited eagerly for 10 years to enjoy! The first three episodes ran just fine; the problems start with the second side of the first disc and don't stop. I'll keep exchanging till I get a copy that plays till I tell it to stop--that's not having high expectations, that's the very least I'm paying for. It's too bad Amazon is stuck with all the shipping, but maybe they'll complain to Universal, which will carry more weight than my letter will. Along with Desperate Housewives, Lost was one of the two breakout shows in the fall of 2004. Mixing suspense and action with a sci-fi twist, it began with a thrilling pilot episode in which a jetliner traveling from Australia to Los Angeles crashes, leaving 48 survivors on an unidentified island with no sign of civilization or hope of imminent rescue. That may sound like Gilligan's Island meets Survivor, but Lost kept viewers tuning in every Wednesday night--and spending the rest of the week speculating on Web sites--with some irresistible hooks (not to mention the beautiful women). First, there's a huge ensemble cast of no fewer than 14 regular characters, and each episode fills in some of the back story on one of them. There's a doctor; an Iraqi... ABC's Miracles had a sizable viewership during its brief 2002-2003 primetime run, but the network's coverage of the Iraq war broke the show's momentum, resulting in cancellation after a mere six episodes. Those half-dozen shows and seven more unaired stories are included in this boxed set, which certainly underscores the series' unfulfilled promise as a kind of spiritually based version of The X-Files. Skeet Ulrich (Scream) stars as Paul Callan, an investigator of miracles for the Catholic Church. Demoralized and confused about his purpose in life, Paul takes a hiatus from his job, but is soon asked to check out claims about a dying young boy, Tommy Ferguson (Jacob Smith), with the power to heal. During his research, Paul has apocalyptic visions and is himself saved... More Info about this DVD Actor(s): Skeet Ulrich DVD Release Date: Released the 19 April 2005 Usually ships in 24 hours

The smartest high school drama since Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Veronica Mars is The O.C. as penned by Raymond Chandler. Veronica (Kristen Bell, Deadwood) is Nancy Drew by way of Lauren Bacall, while Neptune makes Peyton Place look like Mayberry. The first season begins in the aftermath of a dizzying array of cataclysmic events: Her best friend, Lilly (Amanda Seyfried), was murdered, her sheriff father was fired over his handling of the case, she was sexually assaulted, and her mother left. Since then, Keith Mars (Enrico Colantoni, Just Shoot Me) has become a private eye and drafted Veronica as his assistant. She may lack Buffy's physical prowess, but the "tiny blonde one" turns out to have a special talent for sleuthing. In the wake of her sophomore...
