The Outer Limits (The New Series) - Time Travel & Infinity DVD

The consequences of time travel are the thematic framework for this compilation of episodes from the revamped Outer Limits anthology series, produced for the Showtime network. The six stories compiled here are indicative of the new version's competent but uneventful nature; scripting, performances, and direction (all hampered by the program's low budget) rarely live up to the plots' potential or the drama and suspense of the original series. Amanda Plummer's Emmy-winning turn as a scientist who travels 50 years into the past to commit a murder in the Season Two episode "A Stitch in Time" is the highlight of the disc; the rest (culled from the series' seven-season run) offer well-worn variations on time travel themes. The full-frame disc includes "The Outer Limits Story,"... More Info about this DVD

The Outer Limits (The New Series) - Sex & Science Fiction DVD

MGM is grouping episodes from the new Outer Limits anthology series by theme rather than chronology for DVD, and this first collection compiles six episodes that focus on matters of the heart (and other body parts). Alyssa Milano's nude scene in "Caught in the Act" will probably garner the most attention, but the disc's strongest hour is "The Human Operators," a thoughtful, award-winning take on man vs. machine that's adapted from a story by science fiction legends Harlan Ellison and A.E. van Vogt. This reworking of the 1963-1965 science fiction series is competent but lacks the palpable suspense of the original series. Also, there's no sense of new ground being broken with its stories; the original series took risks with its parables on war ("Soldier") and technology ("O.B.I.T.").... More Info about this DVD

    The Twilight Zone - Seasons 2 & 3 (1986 - 1988) DVD

I love the twilight Zone episodes. Prior to purchasing seasons1-3 of the 1985-1988 series of the Twilight Zone, I vaguely remember these episodes. After watching each one, there were some of the episodes that I liked and some that I didn't. I must admit that the remake of Night of the Meek was not as moving as the orginal version. If you are an big fan of the Twilight Zone series- purchase this collection. More Info about this DVD

    The Twilight Zone - Season 1 (1985 - 1986) DVD

I saw season one by accident and was really expecting the worst. In many ways my expectations were fulfilled, but I just love it... Not even in a 'so bad it's good' kind of way, because many of the episodes are well-done, compelling and intelligent, but it's so... 80's, so badly acted and campy with horrible music. There's a charm to it though, and it's very enjoyable. I find that maybe 50% of the episodes work. The last few discs just scream 'filler,' but for the most part the stories are very efficient, only 20-30 minutes to tell a story and within the first minute it has to draw you in. In that regard it's very interesting to watch how they're made to suck you in. Usually characters and situations are established and within 30 seconds you know every character and what to expect. Some... More Info about this DVD

Tales from the Crypt - The Complete First Season DVD

Here's some grisly good news for fear fans: the first season of HBO's long-running TV horror anthology Tales from the Crypt, based on the notorious '50s-era E.C. comic books, emerges on DVD in a two-disc set that's sure to have 'em shrieking (with joy, of course). Shepherded by a host of top Hollywood producers and directors (including Joel Silver, Richard Donner, Robert Zemeckis, and Walter Hill), the Tales from the Crypt series brought together major talent both in front of and behind the camera to give life to E.C.'s over-the-top stories of gruesome revenge and ghastly terror. Season 1 offers six star-studded spooktaculars, including Donner's "Dig That Cat… He's Real Gone," with The Sopranos' Joe Pantoliano as a carnival performer with a knack for surviving...
