Review(s): DVD Baby Einstein - Baby Wordsworth - First Words - Around the House
Good entertainment
My child is 6 mos and so far this is his favorite BE show and sometimes the only thing that settles him. He's seen Beethoven, Mozart, Bach, and the Dr. Doolittle vids but thus far he's been really intrigued on all levels with this one only; I believe that's because he likes Matlin doing the signing and the many times children are on screen. The music in it is actually quite good for being, well, not hardcore orchestra as far as orchestras go. It also keeps me from wanting to rip my hair out from listening to it too much since, as I stated before, it can sometimes be the only that keeps him calm and distracted from the pains of teething. This video has also saved my arms and back from holding him for a consecutive 2 hrs a day as a result of one viewing keeping him interested in other things for a while.
Too Boring!
I love Baby Einstein products, especially the videos, but my 1year old found this one so boring he didn't sit through even the first viewing. They just say the name of something and show a picture of it and have a woman signing the word on half the screen. He loved neighborhood animals and baby neptune a lot more.
good
my 19mt old daughter pay some attention but then whent on to play she prefers sesame st so i will put it away for a month or two i like the fact that it teaching sign language and also they you can chooSe to play it in spanish but i dont like that all the houses in the dvd are big houses and some of us dont live in big house it would have been nice to see a couple of average small 2 bed houses or even apartments

I bought this DVD for my 20 month old son four months ago who had some "catching" up to do linguistically. I was playing the DVD everyday, since it kept my son's attention for at least 15 minutes! I was skeptical at first, not having any expectations from the program. However, the speech pathologists on the DVD knew exactly what they were doing! Clever productions, attention grabber sounds, eye-catching facial expression, and good intro of signing. Needless to say, my son started to REPEAT, SIGN, and APPLY the sounds/words he heard to everyday life! The first time I heard him say & sign "MORE" for more food, I was amazed! Highly Recommended! Expressive faces and the exploration of arms, legs, and other body parts simply fascinate babies and toddlers. From Head to Toe focuses in on eyes, ears, hands, and other appendages with rapidly changing, close-up photography of real-life children alternating with puppetry, toys, animals, and sculptures and paintings by famous artists. Accompanying the vivid images are whimsical versions of classical pieces by famous composers like Bach, Handel, and Corelli, made kid-friendly by the "Music Box Orchestra," as well as the traditional "Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes." Baby Einstein videos are famous for this tried-and-true format that appeals to the limited attention span of very young viewers while encouraging cognitive development--the visual mix and pace in... Children under the age of two should not watch TV, even "educational" DVDs like Baby Einstein.
It has been associated with the development of ADHD (Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity DIsorder) which leads to serious school problems, need for medication etc. It has also been connected with sleep disorders in children. This is the foundings of the American Association of Pediactrics (www.aap.org).
It's unnatural for an infants brain to be stimulated in the way a TV does.
It's not fun, it's not a babystitter, it can be doing your child harm. More Info about this DVD Director(s): Jim Janicek DVD Release Date: Released the 25 October 2005 Usually ships in 24 hours

My 14 month old has most of the Baby Einstein DVDs. This one has to be one of the one's he finds most engaging. It gives you a lot of DVD for your money with, in my opinion, the best bonus features of all the Baby Einstein DVDs. Even though only 14 months old, my son laughs hysterically at the puppets as if he really understands the humor! Along with Baby McDonald, this is our favorite. The beauty of this entry in the Baby Einstein catalog is its integration of puppets, toys, and live farm footage to help babies and toddlers make the connection between their plastic play sets and stuffed animals with images of a real farm. As always, the spoken language is minimal, omitting the pesky verbs and adjectives that would confuse the very young. The 30-minute main program is divided into sections: barns and equipment, animals, planting crops, and harvesting. Background music ranges from "Old MacDonald" to Schumann, and DVD extras include a 6-minute puppet show and visual "discovery cards" identifying animals and farm paraphernalia with a single word.
