Unrestored RE-release of shorts from the TIN releases.
***** Five Stars for the cartoons themselves! I give the low *** three start rating because WE ALREADY HAVE THEM ON DVD!
This collection is a cheaply put-together, un restored, re-release of cartoons from the DISNEY TREASURES TINS! THESE ARE NOT FROM THE SAME MASTERS! So why buy something you already have?
1) THE UGLY DUCKLING (1939) also on the Silly Symphonies Tin.
2) COUNTRY COUSIN (1936) also on the Silly Symphonies Tin.
3) FERDINAND THE BULL (1938) to be on the upcoming Disney Rarities Tin.
4) WIND IN THE WILLOWS (1949) segement from the feature Icabod & Mr. Toad. Amazon sells the entire feature for just $15.99
With the TIN DVD releases on limited availability, I guess Disney hopes those who missed out will buy these 4-cartoon discs. The low price is misleading, when you break it down to individual cartoon cost this release is EXPENSIVE!

This DVD includes The Country Cousin (1936), Ferdinand the Bull (1938), The Ugly Duckling (1939) and The Wind in The Willows (1949). The Wind in The Willows was the first of the two animated sequences that are formed together to make The Adventures Of Ichabod and Mr. Toad (1949).

I've been a bit tough on some of these recent Disney collections due to the fact that all or most of the shorts were already appearing on the Disney Treasures sets and so getting those were a much better value. But in this case, only three of these are on those Treasures sets and each is on a different one so it makes this a definite one to pick up. Certaintly they will eventually be on the Treasures editions but until then I would recommend this set. Be advised that even though it says holiday celebration not all of these shorts really have a holiday theme. Some are simply shorts that take place in the winter.

Don Bluth's 1978 animated short,, "THE SMALL ONE" makes its long awaited DVD debut in this series...only to be DRASTICALLY EDITED so as to not offend certain people and to minimize the intended religious connotations of this timeless tale.
The bankers' song (Click Click, Clank Clank...Give your money to the bank) has been edited to remove the line "we simply cheat a little if we must" so the PC freaks at Disney can cover their behinds so as to not offend the Jews. In additon, the ENTIRE "Small One for sale" sequence is deleted....

Worry not, Disney fans--this special edition DVD of the beloved Cinderella won't turn into a pumpkin at the strike of midnight. I was hoping for a great collection of vintage and rare Mickey Mouse cartoons. That's not what I got. Steam Boat Willy was shown with a large black boarder surrounding the cartoon. I assume it was so the entire frame could be seen. Cartoons two and three were complete rare sound films. However the remaining cartoons were not original prints. The openings were created electronically. The cartoons were very enjoyable but don't expect a collection of all original prints.
