DVD Halloweentown/ Halloweentown II - Kalabar's Revenge
In a place called Halloweentown, good and evil look very different than one might expect. Thanks to a visit from Grandmother Aggie (Debbie Reynolds), Marnie (Kimberly J. Brown) and her family's tradition of ignoring the Halloween holiday are about to change in the extreme. It seems that Marnie's mother Gwen (Judith Hoag) has been hiding a big secret from her three children--all of them possess supernatural powers. Now that it's Marnie's thirteenth birthday, she must begin her training as a witch or lose her powers forever. While Gwen wants nothing more than to see her children grow up as "normal" humans, Grandmother Aggie and Marnie have other ideas. A brewing crisis between good and evil in the alternate world Halloweentown soon pulls the entire family through a portal and into an intense battle against ghouls, goblins and the warlock Kalabar (Robin Thomas). Halloweentown II takes place two years after Halloweentown and finds Kalabar's son bent on revenge. Marnie has matured as a witch, but her powers are pushed to the limit in a desperate effort to triumph over an evil curse in order to save Halloweentown, her family and the human world. This is good Disney Halloween fun with nice costuming and special effects, a wholesome message about the power of family, cooperation and perseverance, and ghouls that, though creepy looking, aren't likely to inspire nightmares in younger family members. Halloween Town 2 was a great movie that was related to the first. The special fetchers are great and so is the story. It is about Kalabar's son named Kale who tricks Marine into giving him her grandmother's spell book. If you don't get it then watch the movie yourself.

Great movies, CLASSICS, in my opinion, DVD..ehh
I have loved Halloweentown since it first came out in 1998. I remember not having Disney Channel back then but I would go over to my friend's house down the street, and she introduced me to the movie. I was hooked! We would both recite lines continuously and decorate our house to look like Halloweentown for Halloween.
As I grew a little older, I was still a big fan, and when part 2 came out I was ecstatic. The second is still good, but not as good as the first one of course. I am well in my teen years now and still love and appreciate Halloweentown 1&2, I will admit I wasn't the biggest fan of the third installment, although it wasn't bad either, I just wouldn't want to own it.
As far as the DVD goes...
After waiting 7 years and counting for Halloweentown to hit DVD, you would think they would have put a little more effort into the design, and not to mention over all production of the disc.
The quality, and set-up is great, no complaints there.
My only complaint is..
There should be atleast some sort of worthy extra features.
Cast interviews? Story background? Behind the scenes? something?? NO! just a whimpy clip that Disney shot for tv anyway so they didn't even put any effort into it.
Overall it's a great buy, a must-own in my opinion.
I will say that if they chose to put out 1 and 2 seperately, and giving part 1 a big box set, and more featurues, I would have definently bought that over the double feature. But I'm still happy with it and will cherish it for halloween's to come

This big, fat theatrical bomb has a lot going for it. There's the three leads, Bette Midler, Kathy Najimy, and Sarah Jessica Parker, playing three resurrected witches who wreak havoc on Salem, Massachusetts, 300 hundred years after they were hung. There's music, special effects, and magic. There's a surprisingly horror-filled plot. Whoops, hold up on that last one. It's probably the extremes that this film goes to (displaying a Disney label), such as the witches sucking the life out of a little girl in the first five minutes, that put the brakes on any success for Hocus Pocus. Older children, however, in the 8 and up range should get a kick out of all the weird goings-on. It's a good measure of Halloween thrills and chills. --Keith SimantonMore Info about this DVD Director(s): Kenny Ortega DVD Release Date: Released the 04 June 2002 Usually ships in 24 hours

Based on Jill Murphy's book, this charming movie is set in an English boarding school for witches--complete with orange and black school uniforms, broom-flying exercises, and potion assignments for lab. The incompetent student of the title, Mildred, is played by a fetching young Fairuza Balk. Diana Rigg is the nasty head teacher, Tim Curry the (oddly) idolized Grand Wizard, and TV's Facts of Life maven Charlotte Rae does double duty as the school's kindly dean and her evil witch twin, who's bent on taking over the school. Directed by Robert Young, this 68-minute video features less than state-of-the-art effects and several songs that stop the action--most bizarrely an outdoor assembly performance by Curry that turns into a weird music video. Still, preteen girls will... More Info about this DVD Director(s): Robert Young (III) DVD Release Date: Released the 24 August 2004 Usually ships in 24 hours
