A 4 star Wesley Snipes movie

I'm going against popular opinion on this one compared with the other reviews placed here on amazon.com and because of that, I thought I'd throw my two cents worth in also. I've just watched this and I found it to be Snipes best effort since Blade II and I found it to be more enjoyable than the mess they made of Blade Trinity or Snipes dreadful last DTV movie, Unstoppable.

It's a thriller rather than an action movie more in the mold of Snipes past movies such as Drop Zone, Money Train or Murder At 1600. If you liked those movies then you should enjoy this. It's yet another DTV movie set in Eastern Europe, Romania this time. Personally I like these European locations, when done right modern day thrillers benefit allot from the realism of European locations for example Bourne Identity/Supremacy which would not of had the same impact if set in Los Angelos or San Francisco. Tamzin Outhwaite co-stars and is as gorgeous as ever as she plays a military police sergeant from the near by NATO military base who from the very beginning believes Snipes to be innocent as he saves her life on their first encounter in the movie. She sets out investigating the robbery and who sent the second gang to rob the first and clear Snipes' name as a cop killer. I didn't find this movie boring or slow and thought it was paced just right for a thriller. The movie has flashes of Wesley Snipes martial arts abilities with 3 fight scenes, 2 good car chases, some gun based action scenes, decent plot and wraps up with Snipes and Outhwaite infiltrating the bad guy's lair at movies end in a more realistic manner for an ex Delta Force soldier instead of the usual guns blazing and everything blowing up action movie climax. It can be said that it is predicable but so are must movies made today as every conceivable movie plot has been used 100 times over at this stage. The plot could have been a little tighter but it served its purpose for the 90 minutes. From looking at other reviews for movies that some of the reviewers who posted on 7 Seconds have written, I ask myself why they watched this movie in the first place if it is not the type of movie they even enjoy watching. What are you expecting to see? It's a thriller not an action movie, go in expecting a rip roaring action spectacular like Bad Boys II and you will be obviously disappointed, expect a nicely paced, well directed 90min thriller and you should find it worth the rental. For me, this will be the first Wesley Snipes title I will now purchase on DVD since Blade II.

A horrible movie attempting to use Snipes name

This truly is a horrible movie. 7 seconds, huh, yeah 7 seconds to realize I made a mistake in renting it. The acting is horrible, the plot is horrible, the filming is horrible... Everything is horrible! I was hopeful because of Snipes, which is why I rented it despite not ever seeing the movie anywhere before in the theaters. The guy at the store even told us that he was told it was a good movie! Snipes couldn't even do the fight scenes and make them look real. The ending is a car chase that ends so abruptly that you suddenly see them sitting next to a pond behind their house completely in love! Huh, they were a romantic interest? They hinted at it, but never showed this happening.

Do not rent or buy this movie. Stay away, or you will be sucked into it shaking your head wondering why you rented this movie.

I should've read the reviews before renting it

7 Seconds is a formulaic capper that's not entertaining at all. The car chases are ok, but nothing to write home about. It's a regular Snipes movie, but lacking fun. It's long, illogical (which isnt bad if it's entertaining), and just plain boring.

    Hostage DVD

You get two hostage crises for the price of one in Hostage, an overwrought but otherwise involving thriller grounded by Bruce Willis's solid lead performance. Making a dramatic pit-stop on his way to Die Hard 4, Willis plays a traumatized former Los Angeles hostage negotiator, now working as a nearly-divorced police chief in sleepy Ventura County, California. Willis suddenly finds himself amidst two potentially deadly stand-offs when a trio of hapless teenagers seize hostages in the fortress-like home of an accountant (Kevin Pollack) whose connections to organized crime result in Willis struggling to rescue his estranged wife and daughter, who are being held hostage by faceless thugs at an undisclosed location. Having directed two of Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell video... More Info about this DVD

Assault on Precinct 13 (Widescreen Edition) DVD

Action buffs will have a fine time with the spray of bullets, shattering glass, and pyrotechnic silliness that makes up the bulk of Assault on Precinct 13. Updated from the little-known cops-and-robbers classic John Carpenter made in 1976 (two years before he made his name with Halloween), this high-concept thriller is mostly a lowbrow kill-fest, and is very happy with itself for being so efficient in both categories. A decrepit police station on its last night before retirement--New Year's Eve, no less--plays unexpected home to a gang of criminals who become snowbound in the basement lockup. Another mysterious gang of people who stealthily gather in the blizzard outside want one of the particularly nasty criminals (Laurence Fishburne) dead, and they'll take the rest of the... XXX - State of the Union (Widescreen Edition) DVD

With a core audience of gameboys and hot-rodders aged 25 and under, xXx: State of the Union is the kind of action movie that requires literally no thought to enjoy. With Vin Diesel's original character just killed in Bora Bora (for details, see the uncensored unrated director's cut of xXx), Ice Cube steps in to play bad-ass, and the whole franchise takes on a hip-hop edge that's almost admirably absurd. The asinine plot is anarchy in Washington, D.C., as an insanely hawkish Secretary of State (Willem Dafoe) plots a Capitol coup just as the President (Peter Strauss, playing it straight) is giving his state-of-the-union address. All of this is prefaced by Cube's recruitment as a former Navy SEAL turned new-xXx, escaping from jail (Dafoe's character put him there), hooking up... More Info about this DVD

    Marksman DVD

I wrote the draft for this after seeing the film, and before I read any of these reviews, so everything is genuine and from the heart, no intended copying of phrases. I was so miffed by the awfulness of it that I felt I had to commit to "paper". I was looking forward to this after previewing the only wham-bam tankfire action in the film in a local AV store. How disappointing it is to buy the DVD and see the rest of the grunge that surrounds this thin sliver of central action. Stilted and wooden performances from po-faced and chisel-chinned actors and actress, who genuinely seem to be enjoying their roles - NOT! Not surprising really, as the script and screenplay seem like they were written in a school project exercise (into plagiarism). The same old cliches you've seen a thousand times... The Pacifier (Widescreen Edition) DVD

Vin Diesel is game to soften his tough-guy image in The Pacifier, in which he plays hot-shot Navy S.E.A.L. Shane Wolfe, whose latest mission goes awry when the scientist he's sent to rescue is popped off before he can tell Wolfe where he's hidden some Top Secret software something-or-other. Before you can say Kindergarten Cop, Wolfe is assigned guard duty at the scientist's family home, where he's left with some unruly kids when the widow (Faith Ford) takes off to Switzerland to claim her hubby's safety deposit box under the guidance of Wolfe's superior officer. The trouble with this paint-by-numbers fish-out-of-water kiddie comedy is that Diesel himself is a fish out of water in the movie--he's no comic and is far funnier when he's unintentionally spoofing macho...
