DVD Dodgeball - A True Underdog Story (UMD Mini For PSP)
How's this for impressive trivia: Dodgeball faced off against The Terminal in opening-weekend competition, and 29-year-old writer-director Rawson Marshall Thurber aced Steven Spielberg by a score of $30 to $18.7 in box-office millions. That's no mean feat for a newcomer, but Thurber's lowbrow script and rapid-fire direction--along with a sublime cast of screen comedians--proved to be just what moviegoers were ravenous for: a consistently hilarious, patently formulaic romp in which the underdog owner of Average Joe's Gym (Vince Vaughn) faces foreclosure unless he can raise $50,000 in 30 days. The solution: A dodgeball tournament offering $50K to the winners, in which Vaughn and his nerdy clientele team up against the preening, abhorrently narcissistic owner (Ben Stiller) of Globo Gym, who's threatening a buy-out. That's it for story; any 5-year-old could follow it with brainpower to spare. But Thurber, Vaughn, Stiller, and their well-cast costars (including Stiller's off-screen wife, Christine Taylor) keep the big laughs coming for 96 nonsensical minutes. With spot-on cameos by champion bicyclist Lance Armstrong, David Hasselhoff, Hank Azaria, Chuck Norris, and William Shatner, and a crudely amusing coda for those who watch past the credits, Dodgeball is no masterpiece, but you can bet Spielberg was unexpectedly humbled by its popular appeal. --Jeff Shannon
Review(s): DVD Dodgeball - A True Underdog Story (UMD Mini For PSP)
"Possibly Canadian"
"If you can dodge a wrench, you can dodge a ball!" -- that's a great line! And this is a very funny film. Ben Stiller is perfect in this one -- his unique style of comedy was perfect for the role (I love when the camera comes up to him near the beginning during his commercial, and he turns and says "Oh, hi!"). Vince Vaughn and the rest of the cast are also teriffic here. It's a little crude, a little...violent actually(!), but it's very funny. One of the funnier films I've seen recently.
F'ing Chuck Norris
Ben Stiller plays White Goodman, a pompous gym owner who tries to take over "Average Joe's Gym", currently owned by Peter LaFleur (Vince Vaughn). The crew at Average Joe's are tight-knit and decide to enter a dodgeball tournament in order to win the $50,000.00 grand prize that will enable Peter to keep the gym open. Patches O'Houlihan then comes along to train the group of hopeless misfits for the tournament.
The best character, of course, is Stiller's White Goodman character. Stiller really nails the role of someone whose ineptitude and artificiality will crack you up. You will love to hate White Goodman.
Vince Vaughn plays off Ben Stiller extremely well, as usual. These two make a hell of a comic duo and I hope to see more from them in the future.
This movie is pretty hilarious and I would certainly recommend it to any Ben Stiller or Vince Vaughn fans. Comedy fans in general will enjoy this film.
It won me over
I laughed at this movie a lot despite my better judgment. Yes, it's an insult to the intelligence. Yes, Ben Stiller can do a lot better, and I truly loved the kind of humor he did on his TV show for Fox back in the early 1990s. But in the final analysis there's something winning about this everything-but-the-kitchen-sink formula of outrageous physical gags, over-the-top characters, and silly situations. By the end of the movie, I found myself cheering for the downtrodden heroes. Jeez, what was I thinking!!!! Don't go in looking for a masterpiece, but be ready to be disarmed, despite your best efforts.

Will Farrell followed up his star-making vehicle Elf, which matched his fine-tuned comic obliviousness to a sweet sincerity, with a more arrogant variation on the same character: Ron Burgundy, a macho, narcissistic news anchor from the 1970s. Along with his news posse--roving reporter Brian Fantana (Paul Rudd, Clueless), sports guy Champ Kind (David Koechner), and dim-bulb weatherman Brick Tamland (Steve Carell, Bruce Almighty)--Burgundy rules the roost in San Diego, fawned upon by groupies and supported by a weary producer (Fred Willard, Best In Show) who tolerates Burgundy's ego because of good ratings. But when Veronica Corningstone (Christina Applegate, View from the Top) arrives with ambitions to become an anchor herself, she threatens the... When we met our hero, Jason Bourne (Matt Damon) in THE BOURNE IDENTITY,
he was trying not to remember what happened last time and ends up
in a beachhouse. This film, as great as the first one has Bourne
trying to escape the beachhouse when the CIA (led by Joan Allen)
wants him dead, killing his girlfriend (Franka Potente) and taking
harmless Nicky (Julia Stiles) as hostage, leading Bourne many places
(incvluding India, Germany, Moscow, and more). Breathtaking,
entertaining sequel has as much car chases as THE ITALIAN JOB
and still the suspense of Robert Ludlum's book. A sequel
is expected next year, just for your imformation. More Info about this DVD Director(s): Paul Greengrass DVD Release Date: Released the 07 December 2004 Usually ships in 6 to 11 days

As deadpan comedies go, Napoleon Dynamite stands in a class all its own. Played by John Heder, the title character is (in the words of critic Roger Ebert) "the kind of nerd other nerds avoid," a mouth-breathing dweeb with a mangy nest of orange hair, and ungainly features that suggest a perpetual state of half-conscious depression. He lives in Preston, Idaho (former home of 24-year-old director Jared Hess) with his thrill-seeking grandma and 32-year-old brother, and his days at high school consist mostly of being abused or ignored by indifferent classmates. Napoleon's sad-sack story doesn't offer the scathing, impassioned humor of Welcome to the Dollhouse because Hess (who cowrote the nearly plotless screenplay with his wife, Jerusha) doesn't have an angst-ridden axe to... More than a few critics hailed Spider-Man 2 as "the best superhero movie ever," and there's no compelling reason to argue--thanks to a bigger budget, better special effects, and a dynamic, character-driven plot, it's a notch above Spider-Man in terms of emotional depth and rich comic-book sensibility. Ordinary People Oscar-winner Alvin Sargent received screenplay credit, and celebrated author and comic-book expert Michael Chabon worked on the story, but it's director Sam Raimi's affinity for the material that brings Spidey 2 to vivid life. When a fusion experiment goes terribly wrong, a brilliant physicist (Alfred Molina) is turned into Spidey's newest nemesis, the deranged, mechanically tentacled "Doctor Octopus," obsessed with completing his experiment and... Elf is genuinely good. Not just Saturday Night Live-movie good, when the movie has some funny bits but is basically an insult to humanity; Elf is a smartly written, skillfully directed, and deftly acted story of a human being adopted by Christmas elves who returns to the human world to find his father. And because the writing, directing, and acting are all genuinely good, Elf is also genuinely funny. Will Ferrell, as Buddy the adopted elf, is hysterically sincere. James Caan, as his rediscovered father, executes his surly dumbfoundedness with perfect aplomb. Zooey Deschanel, as a department store worker with whom Buddy falls in love, is adorably sardonic. Director Jon Favreau (Swingers) shepherds the movie through all the obligatory Christmas cliches and...
