BEWARE: "SMALL ONE" IS EDITED FOR RELIGIOUS CONTENT

The PC freaks at Disney strike again!!!

Don Bluth's 1978 animated short,, "THE SMALL ONE" makes its long awaited DVD debut in this series...only to be DRASTICALLY EDITED so as to not offend certain people and to minimize the intended religious connotations of this timeless tale.

The bankers' song (Click Click, Clank Clank...Give your money to the bank) has been edited to remove the line "we simply cheat a little if we must" so the PC freaks at Disney can cover their behinds so as to not offend the Jews. In additon, the ENTIRE "Small One for sale" sequence is deleted....

Do yourselves a favor this Christmas and TAKE A PASS on this BOGUS AND INSULTING RELEASE!!! Find the original VHS copy of "Small One" on ebay. It has a brown slipcase and it is part of the former Mini-Classics series from Disney.....

...and by the way: MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL!!!!

A disappointment for those looking for an original version

The overall DVD is good. But it was a disappointment to find that "The Small One" was edited and of course it is never marked anywhere on the DVD box that it was. For those looking for an original version of this great classic you will need to look elsewhere. Not only did the editors change the words of the song "Clink clink clank clank" (I assume to be more "politically correct")but they completely removed the entire "Small One For Sale" song and segment. I don't understand why people just can't leave things alone the way the movie was originally created.

A touching Christmas story to be enjoyed at any age

I was delighted this year to find "The Small One" on DVD. I had searched every year for the VHS or a DVD to replace the old VHS tape we have watched and loved for the past 18 years since our first baby was born.

It is a touching story which will make your heart, young or old, glow at Christmas time.

While the other two Disney cartoons are classics and cute, we bought this DVD just for "The Small One".

I am buying the DVD for Christmas for all our friends who have young children. But their older siblings and moms and dads will love it, too.

Classic Cartoon Favorites, Vol. 8 - Holiday Celebration With Mickey & Pals DVD

I've been a bit tough on some of these recent Disney collections due to the fact that all or most of the shorts were already appearing on the Disney Treasures sets and so getting those were a much better value. But in this case, only three of these are on those Treasures sets and each is on a different one so it makes this a definite one to pick up. Certaintly they will eventually be on the Treasures editions but until then I would recommend this set. Be advised that even though it says holiday celebration not all of these shorts really have a holiday theme. Some are simply shorts that take place in the winter.

Rescue Dog 1947 - Pluto is a rescue dog in the snow-covered mountains of the frozen north. But when he tangles with a playful baby seal, it turns out that he is... More Info about this DVD

Frosty's Winter Wonderland/Twas the Night Before Christmas DVD

    Frosty's Winter Wonderland
It's no secret that sequels to classic TV specials rarely stack up--they're usually guilty of getting too fancy with characters and story lines, causing irritating fissures to form in our perceptions of the originals. Lucky for a new generation of holiday viewers, that's not the case with Frosty's Winter Wonderland. In fact, lining up a Frosty double feature at home in which the original is directly followed by the new title is a fully cringe-free proposition, thanks mostly to the down-homey, pleasant narration of Andy Griffith and the near-perfect portrayal of the Frosty we all know and love by Jackie Vernon. The Wonderland dialogue doesn't trouble itself with tiresome throwbacks, and even the plot isn't overly ambitious: Frosty, lonely at the... More Info about this DVD

Garfield: Holiday Celebrations (Garfield in Disguise / Garfield's Thanksgiving / A Garfield Christmas) DVD

No one loves the cold months better than acerbic fat cat Garfield, who thrives on a bounty of junk food and traditional meals in the delightful collection of musical-comedy TV specials Garfield Holiday Celebrations. "Garfield's Halloween Adventure" finds the portly hero and airhead-sidekick Odie the dog scrounging through owner Jon's attic to find perfect costumes, then encountering ghosts and ghoulies that seem a tad authentic. "Garfield's Thanksgiving" is a screwball special in which Jon harasses veterinarian Liz into being his Turkey Day guest. Trouble is, Jon is clueless about how to cook a big bird; fortunately, starving Garfield has the good sense to call in Jon's spirited grandmother for a culinary rescue. Grandma shows up, too, in "A Garfield Christmas," about a family... More Info about this DVD

Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas! (50th Birthday Deluxe Remastered Edition) DVD

Accept no substitutes. The 1966 television adaptation of Dr. Seuss' timeless book How the Grinch Stole Christmas!--about an anti-Santa who tries to heist the holiday only to learn a powerful lesson--is a classic in its own right, and looking better than ever in its 50th Birthday Deluxe Edition. (For those doing the math, the 50 years is counting from the book's 1957 publishing date rather than the show's broadcast date.) The most significant improvement is in the digital transfer, cleaning up fuzz and specks and restoring the proper colors to the program. While the awful earlier DVDs showed the Grinch in a mustard-yellow color, this edition restores his proper green gleam. Special features are mostly ported over from the previous DVD--the Horton Hears a Who program, a... More Info about this DVD

Disney's Timeless Tales, Vol. 1 - The Prince and the Pauper/Three Little Pigs/The Tortoise and the Hare DVD

I bought this for my almost 3yr old twins, and from the first showing, I kept hearing giggling and laughing as they watched the cartoons. My girls already are familiar with some fairy tales, so they really loved "The Three Little Pigs" and "The Pied Piper". I highly recommend this DVD and think it is a great buy for parents with young children. More Info about this DVD
