My 2-1/2 year old was unimpressed with this at first, but "got" the concept after a couple of viewings and now asks for it every day. He was so excited when we got to actual Halloween this year, because he understood the concept of costumes and jack-o-lanterns. The songs aren't as catchy as the ones on most Sesame Street videos, but the segments with the real children really keep his attention and Caroline Rhea's mugging makes him giggle. This Emmy Award-winning musical from 1978 explores an age-old Christmas conundrum: how does a big guy like Santa Claus squeeze down all those narrow chimneys? When Big Bird and his Sesame Street friends set out to find the answer one Christmas Eve, they explore a variety of amusing theories and learn a lot about the meaning of Christmas in the process. You won't want to miss seeing all your favorite Sesame Street characters as they take to the ice at a nearby skating rink. Perhaps the most enjoyable feature of all is the wealth of wonderful music--everything from traditional Christmas songs to the now famous "Keep Christmas with You" by Joe Raposo. Several numbers are signed in American Sign Language and there's even a brief mention of Hanukkah. This 60-minute, classic... "Greetings of "Happy Holidays!" can be heard at all times of year throughout the world. Every holiday is a unique cultural tradition with specific origins, meanings, and ritual observances. To help celebrate some of the diverse cultural traditions that bring joy to the world, Sesame Workshop created the video Elmo's World: Happy Holidays." - From Sesame Street Workshop
My son has both Elmo Saves Christmas and Elmo's World: Happy Holidays! and the latter DVD is MUCH better. (Harvey Fierstein's role as the Easter Bunny in Elmo Saves Christmas is enough to ruin THAT one for me, let alone everything else...)

My 13 month old granddaughter absolutely loves this video. She hears the music and gets up to dance. She actually laughs at the shade "acting" up. We have the videos for birthdays (yawn), and dogs & babies which is somewhat better than birthdays, and the holiday with elmo (she didn't care for at all) but this video actually holds her attention; she'll walk away during the "grownup" portions to play and then returns for the elmo portions. You can just get dinner completed. Highly recommended. More Info about this DVD DVD Release Date: Released the 10 May 2005 Usually ships in 24 hours
