Review(s): DVD Jay and Silent Bob Do Degrassi (Unrated)
Advance information about Jay & Silent Bob Do Degrassi

Okay, I am writing this rare review in anticipation of a release because some of the other reviews are a bit off target. Jay and Silent Bob do Degrassi is a 3 episode arc of Degrassi-The Next Generation. These 3 episodes are the last episodes of the shows 4th season. Kevin Smith descends upon Degrassi to film a movie, "Jay and Silent Bob Do Degrassi." Although, the Kevin Smith storyline is prevalent, the main Degrassi storyline continues. The first episode of the arc primarily focuses on Paige being a spoiled brat as usual. She doesn't want to give Manny any credit for her role in the spirit squad and the two go back and forth. Craig speaks to a member of Kevin Smiths production about writing a song for the movie. Happy, Craig and Ashley get to work. Their songs are panned and Ashley decides to move to Europe, she was already planning the Europe trip but the songs being panned is the dealmaker. The second episode of the arc is mainly more Craig and Ashley. Craig and Caitlin (the object of Kevin Smiths crush), discuss Craig going to Europe. Joey Jermiah (Craig's Stepdad) gives in to Craig's plan but when Ashley is less than happy when Craig announces his plans to join her, he goes off the deep end. Production wise these episodes aired as "West End Girls," and "Going Down The Road part 1 &2." FUNIMATION offers awesome releases of Degrassi DVD's and the Jay and Silent Bob set is being released in a regular and an unrated version. The third episode of the arc features a lot more Kevin Smith as he and Caitlin grow closer. Since the DVD's haven't been released I don't have a ton of specs but upon release I will revise review. I think this will be a great purchase, especially for fans of Degrassi The Next Generation. The season sets are still on season 2 and this will give us a chance to own a piece of Season 4.

    Hooray for Kevin!!

I only give this 3 stars because it's not released yet and I've never seen an episode of Degrassi in my life, new or old series. But being a die hard Kevin Smith fan, I've oft heard talk of this show from our friends up north and Kevin's love of all that is Degrassi, even going so far as to reference it in Chasing Amy he did. Even though I am a virgin to the Degrassi world I will pre-order this dvd for all the Kevin Smith goodness. I went to one of his Q and A sessions in MD and not only did he answer all 3 of my queries, he even let me come to the stage and shake his hand, not once showing any fear of the dreaded stink palm. (No worries, Kevin, my hands were clean.) Kevin is a true talent who routinely goes out of his way to show his appreciation of his fans, and it is because of that I will blindly buy these 3 degrassi episodes he directed and co-starred in. And Kevin, Jersey Girl was a great film. A tender love story told through a fathers eyes. I admire your desire to make the film and the talent you displayed with it. Keep up ALL the great work. Thanks.

    Well, this is a Surprise!

I never even considered it, but I quess it makes sense for a studio to release individual episode DVDs, but of "Degrassi"? So, here is the three-episode Jay and Silent Bob Season Four finale, The episode itself was not very good (not many "Degrassi" eps are)but at least it's making it's way to America. And uncut? Interesting.... Whatever it is, I quess it should be cool. Or maybe not.

    Mallrats (Collector's Edition) DVD

Sophomore jinx hit hard in this second film by Kevin Smith, whose debut Clerks transcended the limits of its setting and budget to become something memorably funny. (Smith followed Mallrats with the wonderful Chasing Amy, so Mallrats definitely had the old curse.) A ramshackle comedy set in a mall, the film follows several story lines involving lovers, enemies, friends, goofballs, and Smith's own "silent" character, who also appeared in Clerks and Chasing Amy. A heavy self-consciousness weighs on everything, as if Smith forgot how to make obscenity funny instead of tedious. Still, it's nice to see some of the director's film family on screen, among them Jason Lee and Joey Lauren Adams. --Tom Keogh More Info about this DVD

Degrassi The Next Generation - Season 2 DVD

Nice boxset and good season! Cast really starts to show their acting ablitity compared to the previous season. The main topics of this season deals with rape, child abuse, break-ups, and new love connections. Really liked it recommend you buy it if you haven't already! More Info about this DVD

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (Two-Disc Deluxe Edition) DVD

Mixed reviews and creepy comparisons to Michael Jackson notwithstanding, Tim Burton's splendidly imaginative adaptation of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory would almost surely meet with Roald Dahl's approval. The celebrated author of darkly offbeat children's books vehemently disapproved of 1971's Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (hence the change in title), so it's only fitting that Burton and his frequent star/collaborator, Johnny Depp, should have another go, infusing the enigmatic candyman's tale with their own unique brand of imaginative oddity. Depp's pale, androgynous Wonka led some to suspect a partial riff on that most controversial of eternal children, Michael Jackson, but Burton's film is too expansively magnificent to be so narrowly defined. Family Guy Presents Stewie Griffin - The Untold Story DVD

For Family Guy fans, there are no freakin' sweeter words than "Never Before Seen." A triumphant homecoming for the Griffins, Stewie Griffin is not so much a movie as it is a not-yet-aired three-episode story arc enhanced with a home-video-exclusive "red carpet premiere" prologue and an epilogue (capped, of course, with a fart joke). Family Guy's resurrection is a television miracle, and its creators have rewarded the faithful by picking up right where they left off, offending any and all sensibilities (recasting Jesus as comic magician Art Metrano), dissing the celebrity disenfranchised (Ellen Cleghorne references, anyone?), and generally taking potshots at anyone on their enemies list (Stewie breaks the neck of a reporter for Entertainment Weekly, the magazine... Team America - World Police (Uncensored and Unrated Special Collector's Edition) DVD

An elite U.S. counter-terrorism squad loses a member while decimating half of Paris in the reckless pursuit of Middle Eastern maniacs; a Broadway actor with a traumatic childhood secret is naturally hired to replace him. Oh--and they're all marionettes. South Park maestros Trey Parker and Matt Stone (along with co-writer Pam Brady) came up with this shameless satire of pea-brained Hollywood action flicks and even smaller-minded global politics, so don't expect subtlety or even a hint of good taste. Team America is soon on the trail of North Korea's evil Kim Jong Il, who treats us to a tender song about his loneliness before ensnaring Alec Baldwin and the rest of the oblivious Film Actors Guild (F.A.G. for short) in a plot to blow up every major city on the planet. Just as... More Info about this DVD
