Review(s): DVD Tracey Takes On - The Complete First Season
    Love love love it!

Tracey Takes On is an extremely well directed show with skits about a certain subject which Tracey "takes on". From an Eldery Hair Dresser to Gay Flight Attendant, the range of characters is astounding. She brings each to life with her wonderful accents and their enlightening observations. It's easy to forget it's her acting.

I was so excited when I heard Tracey was coming to DVD. I've preordered my own copy and think about it every day! A must own!

    HBO at it's best.

    Ep 06

You've been away for such a long time now...

This mid-90's, one-woman sketch comedy was very funny and original. Ullman's characters were a riot and very likeable while the format is a five-minute monologue from each one with no real interaction with any other characters. Ning Nong Nang, the Vietnamese donut-store owner delivers hers at the end of a long day in the kitchen with her bare feet resting in the next days' donut batter! The crude but sincere Aussie stunt-woman is a treat as is the even more vulgar Middle-Eastern taxi driver.

Tracey Ullman - Live and Exposed DVD

I'm a huge fan of Tracey, but it's no 5 stars. Honestly, it's more like 3 stars, but it does have its moments. It's more of a story of her life. Personally, I don't care so much about her life, I would rather have more of her characters. Still, fans of hers will enjoy it. More Info about this DVD

Desperate Housewives - The Complete First Season DVD

Audiences were captivated by the women of Wisteria Lane in the first season of Desperate Housewives, the breakout hit from ABC that almost single-handedly lifted the network from its ratings doldrums and brought back the classic TV soap, remixed now with satire, comedy, and mystery. An affectionate yet darkly tinged send-up of suburbia that skirted Twin Peaks territory as much as that of Knots Landing, Desperate Housewives opened with a bang--literally--as perfect-seeming housewife Mary Alice Young (Brenda Strong) went through her picture-perfect day before putting a handgun to her temple and pulling the trigger. Mary Alice's sudden suicide leaves her four closest friends, all housewives of a sort, with a surfeit of grief, a re-examination of their own lives,... More Info about this DVD

Looney Tunes - Golden Collection, Volume Three DVD

Like the previous entries in the Looney Tunes Golden Collection series, volume 3 confirms how brilliant the Warner Bros. artists were and how durable their creations have proven. The set includes classics that every cartoon buff will recognize: "Duck! Rabbit! Duck!," "Robin Hood Daffy," "Birds Anonymous." Other selections are less familiar but significant in the development of the studio: "Sinkin' in the Bathtub," the first Looney Tune; "I Haven't Got a Hat," the earliest Warners cartoon viewers can watch for fun, rather than as an historic curiosity; "Porky's Romance," in which director Frank Tashlin introduced rapid cutting to cartoons. Some of the caricature films have aged less gracefully. Younger audiences will recognize the drawn versions of W.C. Fields, the Marx Brothers,... More Info about this DVD

The Golden Girls - The Complete Third Season DVD

While it might seem like something out of another dimension given the world we're living in now, this prime-time show that aired from 1985 to 1992 about the hilarious exploits of four single women of a certain age living out their semi-retirement in Miami still stands up. The plots are mostly predictable, and the set never changes, but this ensemble cast really comes into its own in the third season--one that earned them three Emmys and a Golden Globe. Blanche is just as man-crazy as ever, Sophia works her brutal honesty and "picture Sicily stories" to perfection, Dorothy remains the eternal stalwart straight man without compare, and Rose's dull-witted reveries always make for a great gag. Standout episodes in this season include "A Letter to Gorbachev," where Rose pens a letter urging... More Info about this DVD

    Seinfeld - Season 6 DVD

By Season Six, the Seinfeld crew had their formula and character development down pat making it easy to churn out one classic episode after another. Not only do we learn a lot about Jerry (Jerry Seinfeld), George (Jason Alexander), Elaine (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) and Kramer (Michael Richards) in Season Six, but we also learn wealth of life lessons. For instance, just because you wear a toupee doesn’t mean you won't be rejected by bald women ("The Beard"). If you think everyone is giving you the finger, they probably are ("The Pledge Drive"). As ridicurous as is sounds, just because a woman has a Chinese name doesn't make her Chinese ("The Chinese Woman"). Eating out of trash is AOK, as long as your girlfriend's mother doesn't catch you ("The Gymnast"). If you try to make the... More Info about this DVD
