Chuck Norris and Lou Gossett Jr. teamed up to make this "Raiders of the Lost Ark" inspired buddy adventure film that unfortunately had a few too many thrills and laughs to make it anymore than a mediocre film. They play a pair of furtune hunters who are hired by a woman named Patricia Goodwyn (Melody Anderson) who has a map to a lost treasure. Their quest takes them to Central America where the requisite two-dimensional baddie named El Coyote (Sonny Landham) is also after the treasure and has magical powers to back him up. Even "Raiders" vet John Ryhs Davies pops up in a cameo.
Unfortunately Norris just looks to stiff when he is not punching someone's lights out and the problem is only made worse as he tries his hand at comedy and it all comes off as very forced. And... A typical Chuck Norris vehicle that relies on its karate scenes to salvage it. Norris in an early role demonstrates his limited acting range, but makes up for it with some effective fight scenes. While the plot is convoluted and never makes total sense, it takes the back seat to Norris' attempts to get revenge on his "brother" who has gone bad. The supporting cast goes from mediocre (Art Hindle, Lee van Cleef, Carol Bagdasarian) to worse (Karen Carlson, Larry D. Mann, Kurt Grayson). There are annoying narrative voice overs of Norris' conscience that are more annoying with the use of some kind of reverberatory effect. THE OCTAGON is not the best of the Norris library, but you could do worse. More Info about this DVD Actor(s): Chuck Norris DVD Release Date: Released the 17 August 2004 Usually ships in 24 hours
