Review(s): DVD The Outer Limits (The New Series) - Season One (1995)
Worth the Wait - Standing by for Season 2
Thanks MGM for finally releasing The Outer Limits on DVD in seasons - starting with season one, instead of only offering collections by various themes. I was not alone in holding out for DVD by seasons, and refusing to start collecting by the theme collections they are offering.
This is a must have for any serious collector of The Outer Limits! Many of the episodes from season one I had not seen in quite awhile, and a couple I can't remember at all.
Although there is nothing really spectacular in the format of the DVD menus, or in the special features, I did find the special features informative. The episodes themselves are what make the collection a good one.
When I used to watch these on TV, I got used to hearing the words "Please Stand By" at the end of the opening where it says "...You are about to experience the awe and mystery which reaches from the deepest inner mind to the Outer Limits - Please Stand By." - Somehow I still expect to hear that "Please Stand By", but it is a small thing, and obviously Standing By is not necessary for very long when watching on DVD :)
It was great to see some of the actors and actresses that played in some of the episodes, such as Leonard Nimoy in I, Robot - And Robert Patrick in Quality of Mercy. Fans of the Dead Zone, will also recognize Nicole DeBor (Sarah Bannerman on the Dead Zone) from the same episode. Fans of La Femme Nikita, will recognize Alberta Watson (Madeline) from the episode, "If these Walls could Talk"
If you are only interested in time travel or in aliens or another single theme, you may be best off getting just that theme, but if you are a fan of The Outer Limits in general, I recommend getting season one of the New Series on DVD.
at long last
After waiting and watching for an eternity...ten years after that first season revived the sci-fi horror genre...after collection and collection of "the best of" or "themed episodes....
...we finally are treated to the entire first season's episodes of the Outer Limits. At long last.
The first episode I was treated to was one of those "on stage" productions (where the sum total of the action takes place on a single set) starring Robert Patrick. I was hooked.

I saw season one by accident and was really expecting the worst. In many ways my expectations were fulfilled, but I just love it... Not even in a 'so bad it's good' kind of way, because many of the episodes are well-done, compelling and intelligent, but it's so... 80's, so badly acted and campy with horrible music. There's a charm to it though, and it's very enjoyable. I find that maybe 50% of the episodes work. The last few discs just scream 'filler,' but for the most part the stories are very efficient, only 20-30 minutes to tell a story and within the first minute it has to draw you in. In that regard it's very interesting to watch how they're made to suck you in. Usually characters and situations are established and within 30 seconds you know every character and what to expect. I love the twilight Zone episodes. Prior to purchasing seasons1-3 of the 1985-1988 series of the Twilight Zone, I vaguely remember these episodes. After watching each one, there were some of the episodes that I liked and some that I didn't. I must admit that the remake of Night of the Meek was not as moving as the orginal version. If you are an big fan of the Twilight Zone series- purchase this collection. More Info about this DVD Actor(s): Shelley Duvall DVD Release Date: Released the 28 June 2005 Usually ships in 24 hours

Battlestar Galactica's Edward James Olmos wasn't kidding when he said "the series is even better than the miniseries." As developed by sci-fi TV veteran Ronald D. Moore, the "reimagined" BG is exactly what it claims to be: a drama for grown-ups in a science-fiction setting. The mature intelligence of the series is its greatest asset, from the tenuous respect between Galactica's militarily principled commander Adama (Olmos) and politically astute President Roslin (Mary McDonnell) to the barely suppressed passion between ace Viper pilot "Apollo" (a.k.a. Adama's son Lee, played by Jamie Bamber) and the brashly insubordinate Starbuck (Katee Sackhoff), whose multifaceted character is just one of many first-season highlights. Picking up where the miniseries ended (it's included... More Info about this DVD DVD Release Date: Released the 20 September 2005 Usually ships in 24 hours

Enterprise season four is the best out of the four seasons for sure. The entire season, you see the birth of the Federation slowly begin to grow until the last episode when it actually happens. This season was full of drama, action and suspense. I've never seen so many episodes in a season of Star Trek that has touched me emotionally as much as this season has done. From the sad story about Trip and T'Pol's daughter, the the tragic end of one of the characters in the last episode "These Are The Voyages..."
This season also showed the most Shran episodes out of all of them, which is always a plus since Shran has become the fan favorite character of the series.
At first Troi and Riker bothered me, but in the end, I didn't really have a problem with the final... More Info about this DVD Actor(s): Scott Bakula DVD Release Date: Released the 01 November 2005 Usually ships in 24 hours

Based on stories from the deliciously depraved E.C. horror comics (TALES FROM THE CRYPT, VAULT OF HORROR, HAUNT OF FEAR, etc.) of the 1950s, TALES FROM THE CRYPT was a TV horror anthology that, like most TV anthologies, had a lot of both hits and misses. Originally airing on HBO and then later in syndication, some of the episodes fell short, but when a story was a hit, it was usually dead on (excuse the pun). This DVD features the complete second season of TALES FROM THE CRYPT. Following the critical and popular success of the abbreviated six-episode first season, season two was green-lighted for a full 18-episode complement, and all 18 are offered here in their original uncut form (in syndication, episodes were edited to remove non-cable no-nos like nudity, severe profanity, and...
