DVD The Brady Bunch - The Complete Fourth Season
The Bradys just keep on movin', keep on groovin', keep on doin' it right. By season four the Brady Bunch crew had got the magical formula down and was churning out one groovy television classic after another. Not only is season four the best of the later seasons, including the memorable performance by the Brady band "The Silver Platters," but the episodes included in this run almost read as a "Brady best-of" list. If there is a hall of fame for three part television episodes, this season's opener would easily be among the top five. The "Bradys Abroad" formula seemed to be so successful after season four's two-part opening trip to the Grand Canyon, the gang was able to pack it up and head to Hawaii. The Hawaii trip has it all; a family trip to the USS Arizona, Greg's Surf contest, a family Luau, the mysterious tiki idol, and guest appearances by b-horror staple Vincent Price and Hawaiian idol Don Ho. After the tropical vacation it's back to school. In order to fit in, Marcia the freshman signs up for every after-school activity on campus including the elitist "Boosters." Greg's love life gets complex when he discovers his girlfriend and sister are both in competition for the coveted head cheerleading spot, and he is the judge! Love strikes Marcia too, who falls in love with her dreamy dentist, only to be crushed by Jan's news that he is married with children. Never one to rest on the rebound, Marcia lands a date with Doug the campus hero only to have her heart ripped out once again when the boys break her nose with an errant flying football. Then there's Peter who has to play Benedict Arnold in the school play and is suddenly on the receiving end of his peers' snide remarks calling him a traitor. And in the classic season finale Greg and Marcia battle it out to see who gets to move out of the kids' bedroom and into their own space in the attic. Corny, yet cool, dated, yet timeless, vanilla as is comes, but still mesmerizing, The Brady Bunch - The Complete Fourth Season is the season that most people will identify as quintessential Brady. --Rob Bracco
Review(s): DVD The Brady Bunch - The Complete Fourth Season
The season really worth buying
Marsha finally grew her boobies. Buy it and hit the pause button repeatedly during the Hawaii episodes.
"Oh, My Nose!"
In my opinion, the fourth season (1972-73) of the Brady Bunch is the best and most fun of the entire series. It has the most memorable episodes and the most quotable lines. I won't bother summarizing the Hawaii episodes, as many of us are already familiar with them. Instead, I'll comment on only a handful of the episodes that stand out the best.
TODAY I AM A FRESHMAN
Marcia (Maureen McCormick) gets the jitters on her first day of high school and she tries way too hard to make a good first impression on her classmates. She then signs up for every school club available and makes a total fool of herself.
JAN, THE ONLY CHILD
Poor Jan (Eve Plumb). Every season, she has something to whine about. First, there was middle child syndrome. Then, she found herself competing with Marcia, Marcia, Marcia. Now, she complains that she has no privacy living with 2 sisters and 3 brothers. So the rest of the Brady kids alienate Jan by staying far out of her way.
GOODBYE, ALICE, HELLO
Housekeeper Alice (Ann B. Davis) begins to piss off the Brady kids by inadvertently snitching on them (Marcia left the stereo on and Peter broke Mom's lamp). Convinced that she's on a mission to get them into trouble, the Brady kids give Alice the cold shoulder, and she ends up quitting.
GREG GETS GROUNDED
Bobby (Mike Lookinland) puts Greg (Barry Williams) in the hot seat by telling his parents that he almost got them into a car accident. Mike (Robert Reed) almost throws a fit and bans Greg from driving for a week. This is problematic, as Greg already has a date lined up with Rachel.
BOBBY'S HERO
Apparently, Bobby has bad taste in picking his heroes. When his principal tells his parents that he wrote a gleaming essay on Jesse James, Mike and Carol (Florence Henderson) get concerned to say the least.
THE SUBJECT WAS NOSES
Here's a favorite of mine. Marcia breaks her date with Charlie to go out with Doug, the big man on campus. Later that afternoon, she gets whacked in the face by a stray football ("Oh, my nose!"), putting her date with Doug in serious jeopardy.
HOW TO SUCCEED IN BUSINESS
Peter (Christopher Knight) learns a valuable lesson that, sometimes, trying too hard on the job can get you fired. He gets a job as a mechanic at Martinelli's bike shop, but when his slow pace hurts business, Mr. Martinelli has no choice but to let Peter go. Peter is too ashamed to tell his parents the bad news, but the truth eventually emerges.
ROOM AT THE TOP
Let the battle of the sexes continue! When Carol and Alice clean out the attic, both Greg and Marcia fight over who gets to move into it.
These episodes are spread over 4 DVDs, none of which have any bonus features. The picture quality varies, and the sound is in mono. Regardless, fans of the beloved TV series would be foolish to pass up on this DVD, which is a must-own for any Bradyholic.
Best season of a great show
Seasons 3 an 4 are my favorites, you can tell they were running out of gas in season 5 with some of the ridiculous plots. I'll still buy it of course so I have them all.
My main reason for this review is to object to High and Mighty Robin Orlowski's comments about the episode where Mike and Carol try to fix up their parents. I haven't watched this one yet, I thought it was their grandparents. Regardless Robin, exactly what is your problem with this? These 2 people are not related, so what are the "legal" and "cultural" restrictions? Why does this constitute "questionable family content"?
Two of my grandparents died before I was born, my Dad's Dad and my Mom's Mom. The other two married each other and made my Mom and Dad stepbrother and stepsister before they started dating. They never lived together as brother and sister, my Dad was already away at college during this time, and they are NOT related. Is there some law or moral standard that prevents more than one person in one family from marrying more than one person in another family? Do I come across as some sort of inbred moron to YOU because of this? I find your comments to be extremely offensive and insensitive. Get a clue.

Because of Gilligan's Island and The Brady Bunch, writer-producer Sherwood Schwartz will forever be a TV hall-of-famer. They were his only real hits, but they were both grand slams in their prime times and have remained syndicated favorites ever since. Following closely on the Gilligan's Island season 2 release, The Brady Bunch is ready for home theaters with a nicely designed, 4-disc set of 25 first-season episodes. The pilot episode, "The Honeymoon" sets up the story we all know from the theme song (lyrics by Schwartz) by giving us the marriage of Mike and Carol and the coming together of the six kids. Schwartz provides commentary for just this first show, but he fondly recalls his intention of sweet, subdued, and often corny gags the pre-fab family... The 1st season was great but the 2nd season is even better! As one reviewer said, this is the Partridge Family I remember.
The 2nd season gives you the 2nd Chris (Brian Forster), groovier music, funnier situations and Shirley Jones in hot pants ("The Undergraduate" - check her out!).
The Partridge Family - Seasons 1 & 2 are a must have! If Sony releases the 3rd & 4th seasons, I'll buy those too!

Like a groovy Family von Trapp, The Partridge Family arrived in 1970 with matching velvet outfits and wholesomeness bursting from every pore. Watching it now, you expect little more than kitsch--but the show, though certainly a sitcom representation of the world, is curiously fresh and appealing. This sheer likeability comes partly from the cast--Shirley Jones (The Music Man) looks foxy in miniskirts while still being the cool mom everyone wishes they had; teen idol David Cassidy is unexpectedly engaging as an actor (his charisma is all the more apparent when another teen idol, Bobby Sherman, makes a wooden appearance); and Danny Bonaduce's child-star rise sprang not from cuteness but his genuine comic timing. It doesn't hurt that many of the troubles the characters... More Info about this DVD Actor(s): Shirley Jones DVD Release Date: Released the 03 May 2005 Usually ships in 24 hours

My stars! The first, and perhaps most magical, season of Bewitched still casts an enchanting spell. For escapist fantasy, this series, no doubt inspired by the play Bell, Book and Candle, broke significant television ground. The Stephens were sitcoms' first mixed marriage. Advertising executive Darrin Stephens (Dick York) was mortal, and wife Samantha (Elizabeth Montgomery) was a witch. According to a retrospective segment included on this four-disc set, the Stephenses were also the first couple to sleep in one bed! And Samantha's mother, Endora (the venerable Agnes Morehead), and father, Maurice (Maurice Evans, most popularly known as Dr. Zaius in the original Planet of the Apes, were TV's first separated couple. Surely, Darrin did for advertising what Dick Van... More Info about this DVD Actor(s): Elizabeth Montgomery DVD Release Date: Released the 21 June 2005 Usually ships in 24 hours

Though Gilligan and his fellow castaways will remain forever marooned in syndication, the series' network run actually did come to an end in 1967 after a three-year run and 98 episodes. The final 30--which for Gilligan fanatics, include many of the show's best--are compiled in this three-disc set, along with input from creator Sherwood Schwartz. It's not known if Schwartz knew that the series was headed for cancellation, but he and the writers definitely appear to pour on the steam in season 3 to produce some of the series' most imaginative episodes, many of which break out of the island sets through dream sequences; these include the season kickoff, "Up at Bat" (after being bitten by a bat, Gilligan dreams of being a vampire); "Pass the Vegetables, Please" (the castaways gain...
