Law & Order - Always a winner!
Well, the advertisement here is a little confusing. It's listed as the 4th year, but also lists Dennis Farina as the star, and Farina didn't come aboard the series until the 15th year, after Jerry Orbach's departure from the series.
The fourth year of Law & Order brought about some major changes to the series, with the departures of Captain Cragen and Paul Robinette from the series, replaced with Lt. Anita Van Buren and Claire Kincaid, bringing the first lead female characters into the series.
There were several great episodes in this season, including one of my favorites where the detectives and lawyers were trying to track down a shooter in Buddy Holly glasses. This story was left somewhat unresolved, which led to a 2-part crossover with Special Victims Unit in its first year, and this show's 10th season. That's just one of many great stories from this season that I'm looking forward to having in my collection!
The season finale also led to the departure of Michael Moriarty from the series as Assistant District Attorney Ben Stone. The following year, his character was replaced with Sam Waterston as Jack McCoy, who has been on the show ever since.
All in all, I am anxious to add this set to my collection, and I hope you'll enjoy it too. After all, with all these reality shows flooding the airways these days, DVD sets are becoming more and more appealing. I prefer to spend my TV time watching something worthwhile like Law & Order, rather than trash like The Bachelor or Temptation Island. Do you prefer quality to trash?
The second season of Law & Order: SVU differs from the first as not as much time is spent on the detective's families. Ice-T and Stephanie March debut in the first episode of the season as Det. Fin Tutuola and ADA Alex Cabot, respectively. Michelle Hurd leaves the show shortly into the season as her character quits after being relegated to desk duty since being accused of having sex with a suspect. The show really hit its stride in this season. Seemingly everyone is involved with every episode, as opposed to today where Fin and Richard Belzer's Det. Munch do very little. Late in the season, B.D. Wong debuts as psychiatrist Dr. Huang. His character is a bit darker (for lack of a better word) in earlier episodes. Overall, this is a great season for the show and I highly recommend... More Info about this DVD DVD Release Date: Released the 27 September 2005 Usually ships in 24 hours

As season two of Law & Order opens, Detective Mike Logan (Chris Noth) finds himself assigned a new partner in Detective Cerreta (Paul Sorvino) in the wake of the murder of his old partner Greevy (George Dzundza). From that point on, this is when the revolving door began to turn for the ensemble cast of Law & Order, even though the rest of season one's cast returns here. Michael Moriarty's and Richard Brooks' DA team are still the best duo in the history of the show (say whatever you want about longtime vet Sam Waterston, Moriarty will always be superior), and Sorvino and Noth are excellent together. The characters are given more depth, and the stories are more intense; containing that "ripped from the headlines" feel that the show would gain notariety for. The late Jerry Orbach, who... Reviewers like John Q. Public "vhspreowner" annoy me. Here's a person that obviously doesn't care about what he's reviewing, he just wants to trash anything popular. Don't beleive me? Look at his reviews. The guy doesn't like anything.
I, however, do like things. Many things. I include among them the Law & Order franchise. This season was released as a tribute to Jerry Orbach, as it was his last season playing Lennie Briscoe. Sadly, it turned out to be a tribute to Jerry as well, as he died shortly after leaving the show. Over the course of almost 11 seasons, Jerry became the man people thought of when you said "New York Detective." Dennis Franz was close as Andy Sipowicz on NYPD Blue, but Jerry was king. The man made the performances of those around him better... More Info about this DVD Actor(s): Jerry Orbach DVD Release Date: Released the 14 September 2004 Usually ships in 24 hours

What do you get when you transplant CBS's successful franchise to the Big Apple? Cases involving sewer rats as witnesses, a victim whose head was slammed in a pizzeria oven, and murders of commodities traders, and--of course--a Red Sox fan. Fun as that may sound, CSI: NY is a bleaker, grimmer version of its Las Vegas and Miami cousins. The team is made up of a pleasantly New Yawk but indistinct cast of characters: Detective Stella Bonasera (Melina Kanakaredes), Detective Don Flack (Eddie Cahill), medical examiner Sheldon Hawkes (Hill Harper) and younger CSIs Danny Messer (Carmine Giovinazzo) and Aiden Burn (Vanessa Ferlito, who has since left the show). Their leader, Detective Mac Taylor (Gary Sinise), fares better as one of the few characters in the CSI franchise to have a... Season 3 of CSI Miami really turned up the heat this season as we watch Horatio Caine and his team solve a slough of exciting crimes. In this season, Hortatio comes off as more of a superhero; every third episode or so he is running from an exploding building, narrowly escaping from some natural disaster like a tsunami or hurricane, dodging bullets and still managing to look fabulous with his designer sunglasses. Not that I am complaining, the action and excitement is packed into each episode.
Season 3 continues the story about Horatio's brother, Raymond, who is not dead, as told in the season 2 finale, we see more of Susie and Ray's daughter, Madison, and one of the CSI's dies in the first few episodes. Are you hooked yet? I certainly was after watching just one episode.... More Info about this DVD DVD Release Date: 22 November 2005
