  • DVD Dumb and Dumber (Unrated Edition)

Delivering exactly what its title promises, this celebration of stupidity was Jim Carrey's 1994 follow-up to Ace Ventura: Pet Detective and The Mask. The film pairs the rubber- faced wacky man with Jeff Daniels as the not-so-dynamic duo of Lloyd and Harry, dunderheads who come into the possession of a briefcase containing ransom money that is intended for Mob-connected kidnappers. Lauren Holly costars as the woman who lost the briefcase, and with whom Carrey falls in love (both in real life and as his moronic on-screen character). As Lloyd and Harry make a mad dash to return the briefcase (never aware of its contents), the bumbling buddies attract Mobsters, cops, and trouble galore. This lowbrow laugh-a-thon scores some solid hits for hilarity, but with gags involving ill-fated parakeets, buxom bimbos, and an overdose of laxatives, be prepared to put your brain--and good taste--on hold. --Jeff Shannon

Review(s): DVD Dumb and Dumber (Unrated Edition)
One of the funniest movies I've even seen!

Out of all the comedies I've watched in my life, there are only three movies that I found so hysterically funny, I literally cried from laughing so hard! They are: Dumb and Dumber, Planes, Trains and Automobiles and Austin Powers-International Man of Mystery.

If you've been out of the country or on another planet for the past decade, you owe it to yourself to BUY, not rent, these three movies. You will be so glad you did!

All three movies are rated PG, so they are appropriate for the whole family.

    just plain funny

There is nothing else that you could ask for from a comedy movie that you dont get from this movie. It is the very highth of comedy.

So Silly And Dumb, That It's Funny!

This is one of those comedies I find myself watching every so often. I can't help it, it's so silly and dumb that it's funny. Limousine driver Lloyd Christmas (Jim Carrey) and his good friend Harry Dunne (Jeff Daniels) who is a dog groomer, take a hilarious road trip to Aspen, Colorado, to return a briefcase that a rich woman (Lauren Holly) has intentionally left at the airport: due to a ransom demand. These two friends, Lloyd and Harry are one funny duo. I found myself laughing throughout the film. I really liked it!

As they both head off from their dismal life in search of a better one, they cause hilarious scenes and are just total idiots. There are some really funny skits in this film. Especially when they stop off at a diner, and wind up causing a jerk to get all roiled up over their antics. Not to mention they have a hitman on their trail who is trying to retrieve the money in their possession. Do not take this film to seriously, it was meant to be funny and crude. And it really is funny! Highly recommended [for certain tastes]. I liked it though. [Stars: 4.5]

Tommy Boy - Holy Schnike Edition DVD

Before his death, comedian Chris Farley made a pair of surprisingly successful comedies that teamed him with Saturday Night Live colleague David Spade. Their relationship in each film was pretty much the same, but then so was Abbott and Costello's or Laurel and Hardy's (not that Farley and Spade are in their league). In Tommy Boy, Farley plays the ne'er-do-well son of a successful auto parts manufacturer (Brian Dennehy). When Dad drops dead just after marrying a young new wife, it's up to Tommy (aided by sarcastic bean-counter Spade) to rescue the company by taking over for his father. Black Sheep features a slightly different plot: This time, Spade is hired by Farley's brother (Tim Matheson), a candidate for governor, to keep Farley (an accident-prone buffoon) out of... Wedding Crashers - Uncorked (Unrated Widescreen Edition) DVD

With Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson as a pair of brazen wedding crashers, this buddy/romantic comedy milks a few big laughs from its foolproof premise. Under the direction of David Dobkin (who previously worked with Wilson on Shanghai Knights), the movie ranges from bawdy romp to mushy romance, and that tonal identity crisis curtails the overall hilarity. But when the well-teamed costars are firing on all pistons with fast-paced dialogue and manic situations, belly laughs are delivered at a steady clip. Things get complicated when the guys infiltrate the family of the Treasury Secretary (Christopher Walken), resulting in a romantic pair-off between Vaughn and the congressman's oversexed daughter Gloria (Isla Fisher) while Wilson sincerely woos another daughter, Claire (Rachel... Liar Liar (Collector's Edition) DVD

Recovering from the box-office disappointment of The Cable Guy, Jim Carrey gave his fans what they wanted in this good-natured and frequently hilarious 1997 comedy. In a vehicle tailor-made for his verbal and physical antics, Carrey plays a lawyer whose penchant for prevarication is tested when his son makes a birthday wish that his father would tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth for 24 hours, so help him God! Without his daily defense of white lies, selfish fibs, and outright deception, the helpless lawyer finds himself blurting uncensored truths with total, and totally outrageous, candor. The script is clever enough to milk the premise for all it's worth, but it's Carrey's energy--particularly in a hilarious bathroom scene where he literally mugs himself... More Info about this DVD

    Me, Myself & Irene DVD

In Me, Myself & Irene, Jim Carrey plays Charlie Baileygates, a cop for the best police force in the world (Rhode Island). In denial about his wife's affair, he's a nice guy who goes around trying to do the right thing but is taken advantage of every step of the way. Instead of confronting people, he takes the abuse, balls it up, and hides it in the pit of his stomach. His psyche can only take so much, though, and soon his alter-ego Hank pops out to do every libidinous thing Charlie would never do. It's a great premise for a Jim Carrey film. Unfortunately, it's not a great Jim Carrey film. Famous for the lowbrow, shock comedies like Dumb and Dumber, Kingpin, and There's Something About Mary, here the Farrelly brothers get lost in a series of lazy gags and... More Info about this DVD

The Mask (New Line Platinum Series) DVD

Sometimes it's hard to tell if The Mask (or Jim Carrey's in-your-face mugging in general) is actually funny, or just bizarre and grotesque. And sometimes it just doesn't matter. Carrey plays a shy, Jerry Lewis-like nerd who discovers an ancient mask that magically transforms him into a green-faced, zoot-suited Tex Avery cartoon character with no inhibitions. As Roger Ebert said of Carrey in Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, the actor performs "as if he's being clocked on an Energy-O-Meter, and paid by the calorie expended." If that's your kind of humor, you'll love The Mask; if not, you may need a valium or two to sit through this one. Digital video disc extras include two deleted scenes and a commentary track from director Charles Russell. --Jim Emerson More Info about this DVD
