For more detailed discussions of episodes of "The Adventures of Superman" 53 to 78, refer to "Superman: Serial to Cereal" by Gary Grossman and "It's a Bird...It's a plane..No It's the Television Adventures of Superman" by James Van Hise and John Field. Great full color viewing includes top notch episodes "Great Caesar's Ghost," "The Deadly Rock," and "The Big Freeze." Oh, there are a few clunkers, but live with it. The DVDs played crisp and clear on my set with the exeption of the streaked intros, but that was just like old home week. Truly a great addition to your video collection. Collect them all!
TV's Superman
I remember seeing these shows on TV as a child. It is such a releef to see these shows again. They are so relaxing and comforting knowing how the world is these days. A Super hero for the imigination as a series is wonderful. I am happy to be able to see these shows again and remember when. They may not have the action and effects as current day superman movies, but these are great to have in any film library.

The entire set were birthday presents for my husband and he is in "hog heaven!" I guess as we get older, we miss the really GOOD programming we watched as children!

Adventures of Superman - The Complete Second Season pretty much follows the formula laid out in the first season, building on what made the groundbreaking show so popular. For many fans, season two is the best of the series and it is easy to see why. Each episode has that strong "mini-serial-crime-movie" feel and was again scripted and shot to appeal to adults as well as younger audiences. This would all change once season three, the first color Superman season, rolled around and the producers would strictly tailor the show for children. The biggest difference viewers will notice in this season is the new Lois Lane. Fans had to say goodbye to the wonderfully tough Phyllis Coates, replaced by the perkier Noel Neill who would play the sassy and smart journalist for seasons to come. ...
