Review(s): DVD Star Trek The Animated Series - The Animated Adventures of Gene Roddenberry's Star Trek
    Buyer beware--Check discs for damage!!

The 5-star rating is for the program itself--the animated Star Trek adventures were intelligent, perhaps even before their time in terms of animated programming in the early 1970s.
However, the packaging leaves a lot to be desired. Other reviews & postings have noted cracked disk holders and other damage to the inside of the case resulting in scratched disks. If you are getting this as a gift for someone, check the inside of the package ASAP so you can replace it if necessary before seeing a disappointed face when the recipient opens it! Nothing has been done to stabilize the disks or disk holders in the case. My set arrived with a cracked disk sleeve & loose disks, but fortunately none of the disks in the set were damaged. AMAZON does whatever they can to send out products in sturdy shipping materials to avoid damage, but they cannot be blamed for this. The blame falls solely at the doorstep of Paramount for allowing a product to be released in packaging that could so easily damage it.

Star Trek;s Fourth Season on Saturday Morning

I remember when NBC began showing teasers for the show building the anticipation. The show lived up to it's name sake. One reviewer said the animation in some of the episodes appeared rushed. Yes. In the special feature they refer to having delievered the prints wet! The featurette explains a lot except for NBC's rationale at canceling it. The show was incrediable to a 12 or thirteen year old kid and still looks good to the adult. I am sorry Roddenberry did not consider it canon, but every script had his approval, the stories were written in most cases by veteran TOS writers and voices were by the original actors. This is Star Trek, the last itereation of the Original Series. This was NO cartoon

    Coolest animated series ever!!!!!!

You can say all you want about the animation, the voice overs, whatever-but the fact of the matter is that at that time I thought this was the coolest looking animated show on t.v. and as far as I'm concerned it still is. If you're a true Trekkie then it's definitely worth getting!.

Looney Tunes - Golden Collection, Volume Four DVD

If you've got the others, grab this set as well. Looney Tunes have never looked better.

This time around, the box set is smaller and much more efficient. The previous sets had one disc per fold-out, which left extra space on the opposite side to fill up with dumb quotes from the shorts. Now the layout is much better.

The cover art however, could've been much better. It looks so much like the first volume - why couldn't they do something different? Volume 3's cover was refreshing, volume 4's looks bland. The gloss and emboss is nice, though.

I love the black and white shorts - the sense of humour in the early 30's shorts is totally different from later years. The characters would always make objects do things they weren't supposed to - like grabbing... More Info about this DVD

Mission Impossible - The Complete First Season DVD

I received my copy of the DVDs last week and love every moment as I watch every show. The color and sound were good. Though no special features on these DVDs for those who like that kind of thing. In this first season you see Mr Briggs (Steven Hill) as the Mission Leader. He did a great job as Mission Leader. Also, another interesting note is that the tape recorder wasn't the only method use to give the mission brief at the beginning.

This is a must see for any fan on the Mission Impossible TV Series.

I wonder if we shall see the other seasons anytime soon? Nothing on the radar screen. More Info about this DVD

Forbidden Planet (Ultimate Collector's Edition) DVD

This 1956 pop adaptation of Shakespeare's The Tempest is one of the best, most influential science fiction movies ever made. Its space explorers are the models for the crew of Star Trek's Enterprise, and the film's robot is clearly the prototype for Robby in Lost in Space. Walter Pidgeon is the Prospero figure, presiding over a paradisiacal world with his lovely young daughter and their servile droid. When the crew of a spaceship lands on the planet, they become aware of a sinister invisible force that threatens to destroy them. Great special effects and a bizarre electronic score help make this movie as fresh, imaginative, and fun as it was when first released. --Amazon.com
