    Review(s): DVD Animaniacs, Vol. 2
Volume 2 of the great 90's cartoon series

I probably don't need to go into how great this show was. Others have already done that in their reviews of Volume 1 released back in July. This second volume contains some of my favorite episodes, so I was really thrilled to have them. There are several hours of these great cartoons here for you to discover or (as in my case) re-discover. It seems they don't make shows like this anymore. Highly recommended.

Purchasers should note that this volume, like the first volume, not only IS a "season" compilation, due to the varied number of episodes in each season, each volume extends beyond the individual seasons. They are not simply "selections of episodes" they are in fact in the order of original broadcast.

Volume 1 consists of all of season 1 and most of season 2.

Volume 2 contains the last 3 episodes of season 2 and about half of season 3 (by far the longest season in terms of number of episodes).

It is likely that Volume 3 will be the final collection for this series with the remaining half of season 3 and the 5 episodes of season 4.

The Animaniacs collection on the other hand should require 4 Volumes to complete. More Info about this DVD

    Animaniacs, Vol. 1 DVD

As a splendid homage to the legacy of Warner Bros. animation, the Emmy and Peabody award-winning Animaniacs was arguably the most inventive and deliriously entertaining cartoon series of the 1990s. The series' appeal is at least two-fold: kids will enjoy the wacky characters and easy-to-follow comedy, and grownups raised on "Looney Tunes" and "Merrie Melodies" cartoons will love the show's knowledgeable movie spoofs, witty satire, and spontaneous lines of dialogue aimed squarely at an older audience with an appreciation for Hollywood history. Cartoon lovers and film buffs will benefit the most from repeated viewings of Animaniacs since the series was conceived by head writer Tom Ruegger (under the supervision of executive producer Steven Spielberg) as an affectionate tribute... Looney Tunes - Golden Collection, Volume Four DVD

If you've got the others, grab this set as well. Looney Tunes have never looked better.

This time around, the box set is smaller and much more efficient. The previous sets had one disc per fold-out, which left extra space on the opposite side to fill up with dumb quotes from the shorts. Now the layout is much better.

The cover art however, could've been much better. It looks so much like the first volume - why couldn't they do something different? Volume 3's cover was refreshing, volume 4's looks bland. The gloss and emboss is nice, though.

I love the black and white shorts - the sense of humour in the early 30's shorts is totally different from later years. The characters would always make objects do things they weren't supposed to - like grabbing... More Info about this DVD

Pinky and the Brain, Vol. 1 DVD

Are you pondering what I'm pondering, animation fans? Yes! Pinky and the Brain have finally arrived on DVD, and they're going to take over the world! Well, at the very least, these genetically engineered lab mice are going to prove, once and for all, that they're the best comedy duo ever created for an animated series aimed at children.... but, why limit their appeal to kids? As executive producer Steven Spielberg said to the show's creators, he wanted this brilliant, Emmy®-winning half-hour cartoon series to lure adults into watching it with their kids, and like the classic Warner Brothers cartoons of the past, it's likely the grown-ups will enjoy it even more! This is largely due to the fact that Pinky and the Brain was produced under the radar, almost as if nobody... More Info about this DVD

Batman Beyond - Season Two (DC Comics Classic Collection) DVD

Well, I'm not going to go into a big essay on the story of Batman Beyond being that mostly everyone already knows the plot. This review is moreso for the packaging and dvd features. It is very similar to Season One's, to those of whom are familiar. Unfortunately, that also means that alot of traits from the first return, which include the packaging still being so stiff that you have to open the end of the cardboard box and push the dvd content out. The discs are all mounted by plastic fasteners, with two disc on each side overlapping one another. I was easily willing to forgive these flaws in the Season One bundle, but this is just inexcuseable. By the way, why feature Freeze on the cover of disc 1 Season 2, when he clearly isn't even in the season at all?

I suppose the... More Info about this DVD
