As the 2005 theatrical release of Serenity made clear, Firefly was a science fiction concept that deserved a second chance. Devoted fans (or "Browncoats") knew it all along, and with this well-packaged DVD set, those who missed the show's original broadcasts can see what they missed. Creator Joss Whedon's ambitious science-fiction Western (Whedon's third series after Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel) was canceled after only 11 of these 14 episodes had aired on the Fox network, but history has proven that its demise was woefully premature. Whedon's generic hybrid got off to a shaky start when network executives demanded an action-packed one-hour premiere ("The Train Job"); in hindsight the intended two-hour pilot (also titled "Serenity," and oddly enough, the... I may buy this some day. I am sure the picture quality will be much better than the VHS copies I made from the SCI-FI Channel. It took me 18 months to do it. Two episodes are banned from being telecast: "An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge", and "The Encounter". I had to buy the DVD for these. It took 44 VHS tapes to hold the rest. Having to fast forward the commercials may drive me to buy the complete DVD set sooner than I expect.
After cataloging all 156 episodes from info off the SCI-Fi Channel website, and The Twilight Zone website, I narrowed down my top 10 favorites. Oddly enough the top three happened to be written not by Rod Serling, but Richard Matheson. When it comes to interpreting the essence of the fifth dimension that Rod Serling created, Richard Matheson... Stargate SG-1 soldiers on with this five-disc, 20-episode set from the sturdy franchise's ninth season (2005-06), incorporating numerous changes while continuing to distinguish itself as one of the television's best sci-fi shows. Longtime star Richard Dean Anderson makes only brief cameos these days, after seven seasons as Lieutenant Colonel and one as Brigadier General Jack O'Neill. Stalwarts Amanda Tapping, Christopher Judge, and Michael Shanks (as Samantha Carter, Teal'c, and Daniel Jackson, respectively), are still on hand, but with Season 9, Ben Browder (known to many genre fans for his lead role in the excellent Farscape series) takes over as leader of SG-1, the Stargate project's ace team in the field. As Lt. Col. Cameron Mitchell, Browder effectively projects the... More Info About This DVD DVD Release Date: Released the 03 October 2006 Usually ships in 24 hours

I think I must have watched the entire season two within a week after buying it. It is true that the picture and sound qualities could definitely be better, moreso the sound. It is hard to understand why such things would ever be poor these days with dvd technology. One can only think to blame Big Vision. Hopefully season three will get better treatment as the show becomes more popular. Having said this, I would recommend to anyone who is a fan of the show that you not let the negative comments stop you from picking up a copy of season two. While the sound and picture were noticeably imperfect it doesn't stop you from enjoying the episodes just the same and with the reduced price it is a good value. Battlestar Galactica's season 2.5 (i.e., the final 10 episodes of the second season, plus an extended version of episode 10) picks up where season 2.0 (the first 10 episodes) left off: Galactica's giddy reunion with the Pegasus had taken a sour turn when Admiral Cain (Michelle Forbes) went back on her word to Commander Adama (Edward James Olmos) and decided to integrate the crews, moving Apollo (Jamie Bamber) and Starbuck (Katee Sackhoff) to Pegasus. The animosity, combined with an attack on Sharon (Grace Park), threatens to derail a golden opportunity for the fleet to strike the Cylons where they'll hurt, and stay hurt--their resurrection ship.
In many ways, Sharon is the central character. The attack lands Helo (Tahmoh Penikett) and the Chief (Aaron... More Info About This DVD DVD Release Date: Released the 19 September 2006 Usually ships in 24 hours

Time is running out for these Limited Edition discs 12-31-06. I picked up all three of the Enhanced and Theatrical 2 disc sets (WIDESCREEN). The picture and sound quality are absolutely fine, for both the 2004 editions and the theatrical versions. The enhanced 2004 versions are vibrant in color and the theatrical versions seem slightly washed out. Only in comparison. So all you have to do is notch up the color on your tv a little bit if it really bothers you. There are no lines or scratches, vertical or otherwise. These DVDs were viewed on a reliable glass screen television. And on an LCD WIDESCREEN HDTV and the same results occurred. George Lucas might re-release his original Star Wars trilogy movies again in some sort of DELUXE MEGA 12 DISC SET in a few years. The original theatrical...
